Pittsburg here we come

What happens when the Boone's don't have any plans for the weekend…we take an impromptu road trip to Pittsburgh!  Early Saturday morning we jumped into the van and started out!  The boys were more than excited to head out to our first stop…The Pittsburgh Children's Museum.  We arrived late afternoon and it was a little crowded but we stayed until they closed and kicked us out!

We built structures together using nuts and bolts

Peek-a-Boo!

The boys love to climb through this "hamster" style climbing wall.  Nolan begged me to climb in but oh how it makes me claustrophobic.

The light tables are a lot of fun…they spread sand over them and they use their hands to write their names and make designs

I love how Nolan is watching so closely as Landon plays.

The "Garage" is a room that contains everything boy…wheels, cars, tracks, slides, climbing, etc.  The boys wanted to stay here forever.
There was a room specifically themed for Vietnam…Carter loved checking out how hard it was to carry baskets and walk on the balance beam.

Our last stop was the "water play" floor.  It cracks me up how serious they become when it comes to playing in water.  It always seems like a job to them…Landon works so hard to create a "dam", Nolan carried water all over, and Carter is in the background working on how to move the water quicker.
After the museum we headed over to our hotel which we thought we might be the only ones there…Oh we were so wrong.  It was full of hockey teams!  The pool and hot tub were jam packed with crazy kids…our boys didn't seem to even notice.  Bob grabbed dinner from Applebees and they forgot to pack utensils so we ate dinner with our fingers but enjoyed every minute we shared together.

Family Game Night in the hotel…checkers and Uno.

With all the splashing in the pool and hot tub, the boys were so tired and slept in each day.  We packed cereal for the boys to have for breakfast and they had loved having a picnic each morning.
Nolan peed the bed both nights since he drank half the pool! Each morning would start with a bath and cuddle under the blankets.

The next morning we stopped over at the Carnegie Science Center.  This place was so cool. There was so much to see and do!!!

Carter and Landon being astronauts

There was a super cool rock climbing wall.  Bob was so excited to try it out himself! Yes,he made it to the top. He thought he was awesome, and so did we.
Landon
Carter

So Carter was so excited to try this virtual reality roller coaster ride.  Bob swims in cold water and I willingly do spinning things.  I think that I pulled the short stick on this one.  They strap you into this capsule and Carter got to choose which roller coaster to ride.  The roller coaster "Viper" was full of upside downs and sharp turns…I was a little scared and so was Carter.  He asked me hit the automatic shut off button.  We might not be riding too many roller coasters any time soon.

Nolan loved playing in the water
Look at the smile on Carter's face!

These two boys are amazing!

At the Children's Museum you could tour a submarine.   We were so excited to check out what a real submarine looked like.  It was stink in' cold outside but we braved the weather to go out and explore it.

Here are the boys on the top of the sub.
Walking down the narrow steps together.  As we were walking down, Carter says, "Do all submarines smell like garbage?"

This was an unforgettable weekend together as a family that you catch yourself pinching yourself to see if its a dream that you are living in.  We are so blessed to be together.
