Another Sleepless Night

Wow~just when I thought it couldn't get worse...Last night was so rough. He was so fussy. He wanted to eat constant and then he would spit up and cry because his belly hurt. When I didn't feed him as long as he wanted he cried because he was still hungry. Bob went to bed around 9:45pm not feeling so well while I battled the baby. My mom always is helping but I feel bad asking for help because I want us to be prepared to handle him all by ourselves. I finally got to sleep for one hour around 3am while Bob took over. Then we switched. I don't sleep well before the baby so I thought that I would be set and able to handle this. I was so wrong! I fed him this morning and he was sleeping. My mom watched him while we slept for 90 minutes. He did very well today with feeding every 2 hours and taking a 1-2hr nap in between. My friend Marcie stopped over today for a short time and that was great! She dropped off dinner and got to see Carter however he slept through her visit. Thanks so much Marcie! We loved it! Tonight Carter went to his very first softball game to see his daddy play! He was so proud to show him off to his buddies. He slept through the whole thing! Oh, well there will be more to see!

My sister always said, "sleep when the baby sleeps." It always meant a lot of little naps but that was the only way she could get any sleep. Love the new pic with mom and the sleeping fan at his first game!

Uncle Matt is right! Everyone told us to sleep when the baby sleeps and it is so true. Addie cluster fed (wanting to eat constantly) for about 2 weeks when we first got home and yowzers, I felt like I had an attachment to my boobs! We also did shifts so that the other person could get at least 2-3 hours of sleep in a row. Take advantage of anything anyone offers you, dinner, to come and hold him so you can rest, etc. It's amazing how fast you can get worn down when you're really supposed to be recovering!

Hang in there!!!
Love,
Mic, Deb and Addison

Those pictures are adorable! We have been thinking about you often! The first weeks will be rough, but as I just read in one of my books... these are the learning weeks of you getting to know him, and him getting to know you. Somedays will be totally different than others. Don't worry, you'll be telling me this in a few weeks and Carter will be an absolute gem! Take it one day at a time Babe and Matt is right, sleep when he sleeps. Don't feel bad to let any of us know if you need ANYTHING! You know we're all bums on break!!!

Yeah, the sleep thing really stinks!! I also cried when Mike went to work for the first time.... after all 3 of them!! You would of thought that I would have been used to it.... nothing prepares! I remember telling Mike at 2 a.m.~ while feeding Kai that I was going to want another one and to NOT let me talk him into it! I cannot take the no sleep thing!! Also remember to do what's best for you guys with the feeding! I breast fed all 3 for a very short time, pumped etc. and then used formula... and for the most part they're "normal" (again~ be quiet Uncle Matt:)) Take care of that beautiful thing.... remember where you were a week ago!! ~YEAH he's HERE NOW!!!!..so precious!!

Hang in there you guys! It gets easier. In a few weeks you'll be laughing about all this. Good for you for going to the BF support group. I'm sure they help alot! Don't be afraid to let your mom or whoever help out. When they aren't there, you'll wish you had them back! Take advantage of it. And you'll be fine when they leave, motherly instinct kicks in. You look awesome by the way!
