Kirsi's baptisim

Image
We were so excited to be a part of Kirsi's baptism celebration.  After school on Friday, we jumped in the car and journeyed over.  Saturday morning we headed over to the barn to set up the tables and the boys were amazed by the tractors. Bob willingly volunteered to take 6 out of 7 kids to the theatre to see the movie Trolls.  I know right? Unbelievable. Amy, Kirsi, and I stayed back and got as much ready as we could at the house for the next day. After the movie we all went on a nature hike in the back yard.  It was such a beautiful day we had to take advantage of it. Bob had to head out that evening to fly out early for work but the boys and I stayed for the ceremony and celebration.  It was a little stressful trying to keep my 3 boys and her 4 kids quiet during a Catholic mass but we managed.  Boy was I sweating!!  After mass we all went to the front of the church where Kirsi was baptized.  Wha...

Thanksgiving in Michigan

Image
We arrived home from the lodge on Friday. Then on Saturday morning we jumped in the car to head up to Michigan for Boone Thanksgiving. It was game day: Ohio State vs Michigan so that's always a fun day at our house. This year I couldn't even convince one boy to cheer for the Buckeyes with me. Carter and Landon were very excited to watch the game with us. It was a good game but In double overtime the Buckeyes brought home the victory. What better dessert to bring to our Boone Thanksgiving than...Buckeyes! Nolan loves to help out. Aunt katie always creates a scavenger hunt with goodies for the boys. They are set up at the table coloring with Grandma. Early afternoon we had Thanksgiving and we all pitched in to make it happen. Angie and I generously cut out the poop vein in the shrimp. Hayden was there and the boys were loving on her. Landon enjoyed it the most. He wanted to hold her and take her home with us. It was a huge success and it was great to see everyone.

Family Photos

Image
It's time for our yearly family photos.  If I had my way we would have them taken more often but I can only get Bob to agree to once a year.  Thankfully we had Sam (Firefly Photography) take them again.  She has taken them for three years and she is very talented.  She always seems to capture the boys in their true personalities.  We met her at an old abandoned barn just before sunset and it took less than 20 minutes for her to snag these great photos. Until next year...

Got all five!

Recently Danielle and Edd have sold their house and purchased another house and they needed a moment to finish packing and prepare their house for closing. With Bob gone to Seattle for work, my parents gone to Hilton Head for vacation, I was the perfect person to help out.  I didn't tell Danielle that Bob wasn't going to be there because I knew she wouldn't bring the kids up because she wouldn't leave me with 5 kids 7 and under on my own.  When she arrived with the kids they were having blast and she said, "What time does Bob get home from work tonight?"  I said, "Tuesday" She was shocked but I reassured her that I could manage and she needed to go back and get the house ready.  Reluctantly she headed home and I said prayers for patience, energy, and safety.  It was Friday so we all piled into the van and headed to Wendy's for "Frosty Friday." The kids loved being in the car all together.   These two are trouble!  They play...

Halloween

Image
First I must beg for forgiveness because it has been such a long time since my last post.  Bob's position requires him to travel quite a bit during the fall (recruiting season) so we have been in pure survival mode.  I will try my best to catch us up quickly.  Carter and Landon have recently become a little Pokemon obsessed so it was no question when it came to picking out costumes that they wanted to be Pokemon creatures.  I tried to talk Nolan into being something else but that was not a battle worth fighting when you want to be just like your big brothers.  After purchasing these costumes, Carter had a great idea that both Bob and I should participate in the Pokemon costume craziness. Bob was Ash the Pokemon master and I was Misty the girl Pokemon master.  Here is our best attempt at being a family obsessed with Pokemon.  Each year our neighbor hood has trick or treat the Saturday night before Halloween which works out so well.  We...

A trip up north

Image
Right after school on Friday we jumped in the car and drug the camper up to northern Michigan to Bob's dads house.  That night we made a much needed stop about half way at Aunt Katie and Jeremy's house and much to our surprise, Aunt Katie had a scavenger hunt waiting for the boys.  They were crazy excited as they read the clues, completed the tasks, and gathered the goodies.  Early the next morning after Grandma Angie made elephant ears, we jumped back into the car and finished the trip.   We were happy to open up the camper and camp out at their house.  The boys love being outside exploring the woods, riding the Gator, and sitting by the fire.  Bob grabbed a few rafts and decided to take the boys down to the river.  Jeremy, Barb, and I took an afternoon garage sale adventure.  I snagged myself a bubbling foot massager, an office chair, and wood chips for Bob's smoker for $10...it was a good day! Back at the house, the boys had the raft in th...
