Nolan's first build and grow

Image
Lowe's hosts a "Build and Grow" event each month with a toy that the kids can build.  Carter and Landon love doing these and Bob enjoys taking them and having some "boy time".  I usually keep Nolan at home but we decided he would be bummed if he missed out on making an Avenger jet. Nolan had a great time using the hammer.  I ended up with a blood blister at the end because his accuracy wasn't top notch. This is the first time that Carter actually was building it on his own using the directions.  He did a great job figuring it out with a little help from us! Landon working hard! The final project with some proud boys!

Summertime fun Week One

Image
From the moment the last teacher work day was over we grabbed Summer Break by the horns and are taking in as much fun as we can before August 24th!   This first week started out with a trip to East Harbor Beach.  We buried each other in the sand and both Carter and Landon were swimming out in the lake having a blast with each other. It's so fun watching them have a great time together in a place that I have so many of my own childhood memories! Thank goodness for National Doughnut Eating Day!  For dessert, we drove over to Dunkin Doughnuts and each had a sweet treat! This is on my summer to do list…potty train Nolan.  One night he said, "Mommy potty."  I said "do you want to go potty on the big boy potty?" He said, "Yes".  I ran down to the crawlspace with a fury and dug out that potty and by golly he peed.  Since that moment we are all underpants and no more diapers.  He is doing pretty well but we still have our acci...

Landon goes to safety town

Image
With Landon entering Kindergarten this year it was finally his chance to attend Safety Town.  Carter was very excited to share all the exciting details about what he had learned last year.  This was wonderful because Landon was not looking forward to it at all.  Landon has always had someone with him wherever he goes (Carter most places, Morgan Frenk at preschool/daycare) so making new friends isn't a high priority.  This is my biggest concern when it comes to his kindergarten year.  When we arrived the first day of Safety Town, he picked a seat away from everyone at the back table. I tried to introduce him to other boys that were a little timid but that didn't help.   Everyday when I came to pick him up he seemed very happy.  He began to point out every sign we would pass…speed limit, stop sign, railroad, etc.  Thursday was a special day because they spent the day at the fire station exploring and learning all about what to do in a fire. ...

Carter turns 6!

Image
Carter is 6 years old!  His day started with streamers hanging from the doorways, balloons covering his floor, and powdered doughnuts with six fiery candles!  It took quite a big blow to put out those candles. At Carter's request, we had our first trip to Chuck E Cheese.  Wow, what an adventure that was. Our friends joined us there!  Lilly loved riding around in the hot cocoa cup. My favorite part was when the giant fuzzy rat comes out and dances with the kids.  They had a blast dancing, catching tickets, and giggling. Nolan was in seventh heaven playing games with the big boys! Mari and Max are playing games too! After Chuck E Cheese we came back to the house to play on the slip n' slide and have a cookout! Grandma and Grandpa Grocho, Angie, and Katie came down to celebrate with us. We all had fun with a water gun fight! Carter wanted to have his best friend, Landon Booker, over for a playdate.  This was...

Batter Up!

Image
Now that the summer has arrived so has t-ball season. Last year both the boys played but were on separate teams that practiced and played games at different times and days…my head is still spinning just thinking about how crazy that was.  Fortunately, this year they are playing on the same team together.  Bob was guilted into being the coach of their team and I am loving how much he is enjoying it.  He is very patient with all the kids and takes the time to teach them and help them understand the game.   This is one of my most favorite pictures so far this season.  To the outside eye it might look like a father    son moment but really Bob is quietly giving Landon a behavior pep talk.  Landon spent this game kicking his glove to his position, knocking down the bats that lined the fence, refusing to put on a helmet, and much more.  It came down to the moment when he was up to bat and just stood in the batter's box without swinging the b...

Kiss Kindergarten Good-bye!

Image
This school year began with our first born walking into the school doors as an eager Kindergartener and ending this school year ready to run into first grade!  I have loved watching him learn new things and really begin to read. This year we ended the year closing down this elementary school and we will be starting next year in a brand spanking new state of the art school building! Carter has loved having Mrs Falknor as his teacher!

Nature Walks and Birthday Cake

Image
We traveled down to Columbus to be a part of Lincoln's 2nd birthday celebration!  We always have such a great time when we get all the kids together.  Saturday night we took the kids on a nature hike through one of the close by metro parks.  They had a nature learning center with lots for the kids to explore. Next, we all took a walk in the woods together. Check out this crew!! Sunday morning it began to rain and we were worried that the birthday party would be a wet muddy mess but the sun came up!  Grandma and Grandpa Grocho came down and Lincoln loved his dump truck for the sand.  Paw Paw did a great job keeping the kids entertained with baseball.  Nolan and Lincoln could have played for hours.  Happy 2nd Birthday Lincoln! What a fun time!
