Summertime fun Week One

From the moment the last teacher work day was over we grabbed Summer Break by the horns and are taking in as much fun as we can before August 24th!
This first week started out with a trip to East Harbor Beach.  We buried each other in the sand and both Carter and Landon were swimming out in the lake having a blast with each other.

It's so fun watching them have a great time together in a place that I have so many of my own childhood memories!

Thank goodness for National Doughnut Eating Day!  For dessert, we drove over to Dunkin Doughnuts and each had a sweet treat!

This is on my summer to do list…potty train Nolan.  One night he said, "Mommy potty."  I said "do you want to go potty on the big boy potty?" He said, "Yes".  I ran down to the crawlspace with a fury and dug out that potty and by golly he peed.  Since that moment we are all underpants and no more diapers.  He is doing pretty well but we still have our accidents.

In our family garden in the backyard, we are growing lots of fruits and vegetables.  Strawberries was something new that we decided to try.  Our first strawberry turned red and we picked it and cut it into three pieces so they could all try.

On Tuesday, we went to see the Lego Movie in the theatre as part of the summer movie $1 in Sandusky.  They were very ready to watch it on the big screen.  In the middle of the movie we all went out to go potty and when we returned Nolan missed the step and hit his eye on the edge of the step.  His eye swelled up so huge so fact that it was swollen shut.  We grabbed a bag of ice from the concession and piled into the car and raced to the emergency room.  After waiting over an hour without being helped, we left.  Thanks to the ice the swelling went down but he has been sporting a black eye for about a full week.  Tough cookie!

On Tuesday afternoon, the boys all got their summer haircuts.  Before we jumped into the pool at the neighbor's house, I asked them pose for a photo and below is what I got!  They crack me up!

On Friday we met friends at the park in Amherst to play.  The boys played, climbed the rock wall, rode bikes, had lunch, and snuggled with Charlie.

That was all in one week…Can't wait for what the next week will bring!
