Batter Up!

Now that the summer has arrived so has t-ball season. Last year both the boys played but were on separate teams that practiced and played games at different times and days…my head is still spinning just thinking about how crazy that was.  Fortunately, this year they are playing on the same team together.  Bob was guilted into being the coach of their team and I am loving how much he is enjoying it.  He is very patient with all the kids and takes the time to teach them and help them understand the game.
This is one of my most favorite pictures so far this season.  To the outside eye it might look like a father    son moment but really Bob is quietly giving Landon a behavior pep talk.  Landon spent this game kicking his glove to his position, knocking down the bats that lined the fence, refusing to put on a helmet, and much more.  It came down to the moment when he was up to bat and just stood in the batter's box without swinging the bat.  The whole team out in the field was staring at him with anticipation but he refused to swing the bat.  Bob had to help him swing the bat to hit the ball off the tee.  Then he stood there without running to first so Bob had to help him get to first where he was thrown out.  I met Landon at first base and walked him to the car where Danielle drove him back to the house.  Oh, the tears were rolling when he realized he was leaving and wasn't going to get the end of the game snack.  Sometimes you have to pick your battles and this was one for the picking!! Thank goodness that we haven't seen a repeat performance of this situation again.

Carter is understanding and more interested in the game this year than last year.  Bob gets to pitch to him from the mound and he is connecting with the ball.  He loves to play in the pitching position so that he can field the most hit balls and throw the ball to first.

My grandparents made it up to a game and they were so happy to watch the boys play.  Nolan loves to yell to Bob during the game just to get a bit of his attention and then he will wave at Bob…its pretty cute!
