Always a change in plans...but worth it!

Image
Around 4pm the doctor came in and said that I was competely dilated and that she needed to turn down the epidural.  I quickly asked, "Why would you need to do that?"  They then replied that they wanted me to feel bottom pressure so I could know when to push.  At this point I was so amazed that my body had gotten to this point with out pitocin or any other meds.  I was nervous about the pushing because it was new for me and also I had no idea what I was doing. The nurses were fabulous about coaching me and teaching how to make this work.  We started pushing and I thought things were going well but I was struggling getting him out.  After about 45 minutes of pushing without much progress at all I started to have major pain in my tailbone and cramps in the muscle by my leg.  I was in a lot of pain like the crazy wolf  lady moaning and howling at the moon that you hear down the hall as you enter the birthing unit.  I was that crazy possessed lady...

Let the contractions begin!

On Monday night I began to have contractions around 1:45am. I have to tell you that I was excited to finally be able to feel what a contraction felt like.  I woke up Bob and announced it to him and we celebrated a little before the next one came around.  They were very contistent-every 10 minutes for about 5 hours straight.  To cope with them I was breathing, walking, and rocking from side to side.Soon after that they slowed down to every 30 minutes and then every hour.  At 8am I called the hospital and they said, " Until the contractions are 5-7minutes apart just stay at home."  So I decided that I needed to walk and get things moving.  I walked to PAT, the library, the school to pick up the girls that I watch, etc... The plan was to have my Mom and Dad come up on Wednesday evening so they could be here to help with the boys when we head to the c-section.  My mom was getting very anxious and decided to head up on Monday afternoon.  This worked o...

Our Family of Four

Image
As we quickly await the arrival of the new baby, my doctor reminded me to enjoy the time we have left of just being a "family of four". It was such a great reminder because I have been so busy with getting everything ready and planned out for the baby that it has been a blur. Bob and I decided to make the most of every moment we have together so here are just a few of the things we have been doing together. From Pinterest...making frozen yogurt fruit bites We got out our new stampers and stamped the back of wrapping paper.  Bob was along for the activity until it started to get messy and then it was too much for him to handle. Carter braves the two wheel bike.  He is so eager to be riding around on a "big boy" bike. Blowing bubbles! Carter draws his shapes and teaches Landon about each one. Landon loved coloring them in with chalk We then used vinegar in the spray bottle to spray on the chalk because according to pinterest it was sup...

Camping Out Indoors

Image
A few weeks ago Grandma Angie sent a present for the boys. It was a play tent.  Bob set it up downstairs in the basement and the kids were having a blast inside it.   Bob had told the boys that they could have a slumber party in it over the weekend.  He forgot that it was the same night as an important Final Four Game featuring the University of Michigan.  Now if you have ever watched any kind of sports game with Bob you know that there is a lot of yelling, jumping, and fist pumping so he wasn't sure if he could do the slumber party and keep the kids asleep.  After telling the boys about sleeping in the tent there was no going back on that so we made it work. They were so excited about sleeping in the tent.  We brought down blankets and pillows and put the sound machine projector on stars.  We read books together and jumped right into the tent.  Bob and I set up an air mattress right next to the tent for the night.  It was so cute to see the...

Ready or Not...Here Comes Baby #3

Image
Yesterday was my most recent doctor's appointment.  On Saturday I will be 38 week pregnant.  Bob surprised me and the boys and met us at the appointment.  What a great surprise it was...not sure if it was the hormones but it made me tear up! Dr. Bell is amazing as I have said before and here is a picture of how she lets Carter help find the heartbeat.  He thinks he is hot snot! Sorry about the huge belly shot but this is a moment that I don't ever want to forget! Next, the doctor wheeled in her ultrasound machine to take a quick look at the baby.  The baby is head down and face down...good news!  This was so neat because Bob got to see the baby for the first time because he was unable to go to the ultrasound at 21 weeks because he stayed at home with the boys.  We are getting excited for this little one to make its appearance.   Here are the "coming home" from the hospital outfits...Girl or Boy! Thanks to Grandma Angie and friends...

More Spring Break fun

Image
Since this past week was spring break vacation for the Chelsea Schools, that meant no preschool for Carter and no PAT for me so we decided to stay down with Aunt D. This meant fun, fun, fun! Maw Maw decided to try another project with the boys. This time it was making chocolate race car pretzel rods.  Bless my mom's heart she tries so hard to find fun things to do with the boys and some how it always turns out harder than you think. Maw Maw rereads the directions to make sure she knows what she is doing. The boys put the chocolate melts in the squeeze bottle.  Both of the squeeze bottles melted in the microwave. The boys squeezed as hard as they could to get just a little bit of chocolate into the mold. The end product didn't look like it should but the boys didn't mind because they tasted yummy! Another idea that turned out to be a flop was an idea I saw on pinterest.  It was a glow in the dark Easter egg bath.  You put glow sticks inside eggs ...

The Easter bunny and so much more

Image
Since we were in Columbus for the easter egg hunt my sister decided to host Easter at her house.  This was great because it will be the last chance before the new baby arrives to get the whole family together. We took advantage of every moment together.  We visited the local park where the boys loved playing outside by the water and mud. Aunt D and baby Adelynn Maw Maw and Paw Paw King of the Mountain Adelynn stops just a minute to catch her breath as she chases the boys Paw Paw shakes the cat tail as Carter holds on for dear life Next we went back to get dinner ready and the boys helped to make Easter Scotcheroo's!  They were so yummy! The finished product...Grandma Grocho smiles in the background as she has watched the boys lick the chocolate off their fingers as they decorate dessert. The boys have a slight obsession with "Mario Kart" for the Wii and Uncle Edd has it so they were more than excited to play.  Nee...
