Fall fun in Ohio and Michigan

The season of fall is one of our absolute favorite times of the year.  This year we decided not to play fall baseball and it was such a blessing that gave us more time together over the weekends. Quarry Hill Orchard is our local sweet spot to visit to pick apples.  They have two golden retrievers that are so friendly so we decided to take Paisley to meet them.  She loved her time in the orchard.

She loved sneaking a bite of the fresh apples.

One weekend in October we jumped in the car and traveled up to Michigan to stay with Lokers and do our annual fall activities together. We like to stop by Blast Farm in Dexter, Michigan.

It's so fun to watch these kids grow up together.

Of course, we will have fresh doughnuts and hot cocoa.  The sun felt great but the wind was brutal.

Bob took Nolan home early so that he could try out for the travel basketball team so I had Carter and Landon.  Bill watched all the kids so that Laura and I could sneak out for dinner with Deborah at the new local restaurant in Chelsea.  The food was delicious but the company of those two amazing women was the best part!

Bob, Carter, and Landon have competed in the Great Pumpkin 5k Race in Akron for the past three years and this year we thought that it would be a perfect year to make it a family event.  The temperature was a little chilly and it rained in the morning so we were bundled up warm.

During the race, Carter slipped on the paint in the turn lane of the road and twisted his ankle.  He struggled to recover.  Him and I completed the race walking to the finish line.  Landon was the winner out of our family!  In order of finishing: Landon, Bob, Nolan, Heidi, Carter.  This was a true test of pushing through something that was hard for Carter...it was a mental struggle with himself to finish.  Sometimes pride hurts more than pain itself.

Carving pumpkins is something that Bob looks forward to every year.  The boys love to choose their design and scoop out all the pulp.  Bob had to run out in the midst of the process but we cranked up the Halloween music and finished it.

One thing that we found out during this process is that Penny loves to eat pumpkins.  She literally grabbed this one off the front porch and hid behind the couch to eat it raw.

On trick or treat night in our neighborhood we invite all the neighbors and friends over to eat, and trick or treat in our development.  It was wet and cold but the kids still had an absolute blast.

My favorite part of the night is the candy sorting with each other after the night ends.

My yoga journey with Tranquil Lake Studio continues and I hosted a Halloween Costume Children's Yoga Class.  All students came to practice yoga in their costumes, while listening to spooky Halloween tunes and completing Halloween themed mindful activities.  It was an absolute blast.
