Last stop Seattle, Washington

Our last stop on this vacation journey was Seattle, Washington.  The drive was about 4 hours there and the traffic was a little tight the closer we got to the city.  The big theme as we drove was the sighting of Big Foot.  We stopped at a gas station for snacks and potty, the signs below were posted.  We asked the cashier if she had ever seen Big Foot...serious as a judge she told us that she hadn't seen him but she heard him.  We were flabbergasted. It sounds as if he might be the fastest thing on earth. She heard a noise she had never heard that was very deep from about 1000 yards away. That animal made the same noise behind her less than 5 seconds later. Now that is freaky fast.
Unfortunately we didn't see him on our trip.

When we arrived at our house in Seattle, it was right on the water (the Sound).  We walked down to see what was going on and we stumbled upon a street fair.  There were some amazing handmade jewelry, soap, artwork, etc...

The boys took turns doing their part coloring the big mural.

A 3-d fish drawing was so cool.

Maw Maw and I tried corn on the cob on a stick...delicious and handy!

The house we stayed at had some good perks.  There was a hot tub right outside the front door.  The boys spent every free moment in the hot tub. The owner of the house had the most amazingly friendly dog named Finn.  Nolan and Landon loved on him just like he was their own dog. Just about everybody in the neighborhood knew him. He roamed free with no fence or electric collar. We wanted to bag him up and put him in our luggage. 🐕

The sunset over the Bay...so beautiful.

Bob's sister, Robyn, was the reason we went so far North up the coast. She moved to Seattle and we were looking for a chance to go see her. A summer vacation to the Pacific Northwest was the perfect opportunity. The first thing we did was The Seattle Wheel.  It was a large enclosed ferris wheel.  Ferris wheels are one of my fears but this was enclosed and I was feeling brave.

Bob was so excited to spend time with Robyn and for her to spend time with us crazy’s.

Landon was quite scared of the whole experience but he made it!

Next we ventured over to the famous Pike Place Market.

There is a pig statue named Rachel that sits at the front of the market.  It is good luck to rub her snout and she is a piggy bank too.  All the funds go to charity so we dropped some coins in her back.
This is the place where you can find fish being tossed...we got lucky and watched them throw a fish to a lady purchasing a large fish for dinner.

The flowers at the market were beautiful.  There were gorgeous fruits and veggies for purchase.  I could have stayed there for hours but wow was it crowded.

Carter bought a souvenir hat of the Seattle Sonics and wore it proud throughout the rest of the trip.
After lunch we jumped aboard the ferry to take a tour of the Sound.  It was so neat to hear details about the city.

It was so neat to get that close to the shipping freighters. It is unbelievable to think about how many pieces of merchandise are on there.

We had kayaks at our house that we could use to paddle through the Bay.

Landon and Maw Maw

Please pardon the graphic nature of this next picture. If you have a weak stomach you may not want to look.  Lol 😂
Bob found out the he got into poison ivy, oak, or sumac (we weren’t sure) at some point in California or Oregon. Check out these photos of his poor feet.

Nolan enjoyed doughnuts from the donut shop 2 blocks away, Top Pot Doughnuts.

One of the big tourist attractions is the Chewing Gum Wall.  This is a hallway under Pike Place Market where the walls are covered with chewed gum.  We stopped by a store to choose our chewing gum of choice to add to the wall.

Everyone added their pieces to the wall.  There was quite a smell down there...yuck.

Next stop was the Space Needle, however we had to wait to enter so we played on the playground outside the Museum of Pop Culture.  The boys climbed all over this and slid down the slides.

Even Bob made a trip up to hang with the boys and scope out the views.

Heights are not my favorite and I think it may have rubbed off on both Landon and Nolan.  Bob had been up in the Space Needle with his mom previously on a work trip when they visited so he volunteered to stay on land with the boys.  Maw Maw, Carter, Robyn, and I were the brave ones that went up.

At the top the windows were crystal clear so you could see so far.  The benches to sit on were made out of glass and slanted back toward the glass window.  I quickly found out that I needed to cling to the inner wall to survive these heights.  Carter and Maw Maw were super brave.

On the level under the glass walls was a revolving glass floor.  Carter loved it.

Mount Rainier was beautiful and we were able to see it our whole visit.  This we found out was a very rare event and it can only be seen 90 days out of the whole year.  Look closely as you can see where the Seattle Seahawks play as well.

The morning of our departure Bob and Carter got up early for one last kayak paddle in the Sound.

We had the most amazing trip and we are so grateful for the family memories we made together.
