Couples Trip 2019
If you haven't guessed by now, traveling is what we live for. The second weekend is August is our annual couples trip vacation! This year our destination was Destin, Florida. We jumped on a plane with Truax's and Parkers. After landing we had lunch at Jacacuda's at Harborwalk. We watched the boats come through the channel and quickly decided we needed to rent a pontoon boat while we were there!
On our way to the condo we stopped to grab groceries and forgot how packed we were in the car with our luggage so we ended up like sardines inside the car. Once we arrived at the condo, Bob found this great food service cart for us to load up and take all our groceries to the new place.
Unpack the suitcases and groceries and head out to the beach. We played for a while on the floating lillypads.
Ready for dinner!
Each morning this would be our beautiful view! I spotted a dolphin one morning swimming out in the ocean.
Saturday morning we rented a pontoon to take it out to Crab Island for the day. Thanks to these $3 rafts from Walmart we were ready to float around!
Sun bathing beauties
Cheers!
Captain Bob drove the boat
I found a hermit crab on crab island!
Crab Island was such a cool place. There were floating ice cream shops, margarita stores, hamburger joints, and even an inflatable obstacle course all floating out there. We anchored the pontoon and began floating and drifting around to explore.
Today's agenda: complete relaxation!
Thankfully we had Mark Parker. He was able to drag our pontoon out of the crowded sand bar!
Living the dream!
Our voyage was not complete without pulling over and taking some super sweet jumps off the back of the boat!
One of our favorite places we ate was called BoShamps. This restaurant had a neat retreat outdoors for you to use while waiting to be sat. We watched boats dock, kids play corn hole, dogs jump off boats, and many selfies being taken.
We ate so much food over the weekend and it was all delicious! Each place we went we tested the gumbo!
Party night...fireball shots.
Elvis!!! Our hero!
That night ended with a quick trip to Coyote Ugly...nothing else could remind you how old you are than to stop by there for a drink. Bob and I were the oldest people on the dance floor sweating with the young folks. I will admit, we were holding our own when it came to the dance moves...we have still got it!!
Our final night there!
Ice cream dessert and a photo op...paradise!!!
In the morning we had to empty the fridge and we had a whole bag of tortilla chips unopened and I had the hardest time throwing them away. I decided to carry them with me, through security and all the way home!
Pinky finger up. Our flight got into Ohio at 9am on Monday morning so we all stopped through First Watch and had breakfast. Bob had his first cup of coffee with me...I have been dreaming of this moment for years! Dreams do come true!
We are so lucky to have great people in our lives that enjoy getting away and relaxing once a year together...let's do this again next year!!!
