Lake Ogemaw Vacation House with Friends

This past week we ventured up north to vacation with the Lokers and Coy families.  Bill snagged this amazing house. What a week!

In the backyard beach, there was a huge wooden pirate ship play structure with a slide, climbing rope, cargo nets, and even a plank to walk.  The kids were so excited to check it out.

Our kids slept so well while we were there that they were the last ones to rise. That was an absolute surprise being that we haven't had the best of luck with sleeping children for the past 6 years. We would begin each day with breakfast and then head out to the beach in the backyard where the kids would play for hours. The water temperature was decent…you know me, I'm not an eager swimmer when it comes to chilly water.  It didn't phase the kids or the men at all as they were jumping, swimming, and splashing each day.
All the boys took out the canoe.  Carter loved being able to help paddle.
We had a couple jet skis to ride for the week.  They were just what we all needed for some thrill seeking fun.  Carter and Landon loved riding on them.  Nolan was not as happy about it.

Right off the dock, you could see schools of little bluegill fish.  Abby would toss just a little bit of food in and then using her net to catch them.  She had it down to a science…she caught over 30 fish while we were there.  It was hard to believe.

Abby and Laura sped around the lake on the jet ski.

Carter asked me to go out on the canoe with him.  I jumped at the chance to have a solo moment with him.  We had such a great time.  He's a talker!  We explored some little islands together.  I just love those special moments.

Landon is showing some break dancing moves on the water trampoline.

Each day we had lunch down by the water.  Nolan liked to sample everyone's lunch.

Lucas and Daniel worked together to build in the sand.

Every time Abby would catch a fish and put it in the bucket, Owen would go crazy!  He loved looking at the fish flipping around.

Lucas and Carter share the common interest in Minecraft.  They spent quite a bit of time looking through the mine craft strategy books together.

These boys were drawing together!

The Boone boys paddle boating!

If you look closely, it's me, Lucas, and Jackson out on the paddle boat.
Landon even caught a fish! He ran all the way up to the house to tell us about it.

Love this picture of Jackson!  He was in his element out there by the water!

Nolan had a great time trying so hard to catch his own fish

By the end of the week, Lucas braved the water and went out on the paddle boat with Kevin.

My favorite childhood summer activity was to go tubing on our neighbors boat. So I jump at any chance I get at doing it now.  Bob drove while I tubed behind.  Don't worry, he definitely flipped me off.

Carter and Landon both jumped at the chance to ride the tube!  They are fearless thrill seekers!!

The kids loved playing the game Headbandz.  One of the cards was ring and the boys were giggling so hard trying to get Abby to say it.  They gave clues of: A boy give this to a girl at a wedding and you kiss.  It was so silly!

Abby found a pirate gold piece buried in the sand.  She was more than excited about her lucky find!  Bob and her were trying to come up with a story about how that gold piece arrived here.
Lokers family fun

Jackson could have jumped off the back of the jet ski all day long!

Bill trying to make the highlight reel with that catch

Carter and Landon would run the dock and jump off the end

Adult bonfires late night after the kids are asleep were just what we needed!  We even had some great board game situations that caused lots of laughing!

We were lucky to sneak away one day to spend some time at Bob's dads house in Gladwin.  It was great to see them and catch up on all their fun they had in Florida for the colder months.  The boys loved riding the "gator" and just being outside.  Arlin made us up some fresh walleye.  Delicious!

We were getting eaten alive by mosquitoes at that moment but we had a great time!  When I turned to walk off this bridge, I lost my flip flop and Carter and Landon worked together to grab it downstream with a stick.  It was quite a task!

Right down the road from our vacation house was a nice little hiking trail.  We can't get enough of being outside together exploring new places.

Look at this smile!

Downstairs at the house, Bob and Carter found the board game Battleship.  Carter had never played this game before so it was something they were excited about trying.  I think that we will soon have to find a battleship game for our house!

Nolan loved play fooseball.

Oh and the games of air hockey were quite competitive too!

So many fun memories with great friends!
