A Family Weekend in the Wilderness

Friday evening we jumped in the van after school and traveled down to Columbus to see Lincoln, Addie, Maw Maw, and Paw Paw because Aunt D and Uncle Edd were gone at a wedding.  The kids were so excited to see each other.  On Saturday we went to Dill's Greenhouse which was hosting a fall festival.

A straw maze

A sandbox full of corn

A barrel ride

There were animals to see and pet

Even a tall tower of straw bales

This was so cool.  They had random metal bowls, spoons, pots, and pans hanging to make music with.

Who doesn't have fun in a corn maze…Lincoln and I got lost and struggled to find the way out for awhile.

This tube was at the top of a hill and we took turns pushing it down and riding in it too.

Note to self: this is not intended for adults

Immediately following the fun at the fall festival we drove to this event called :Operator for a day!  Kelli and James suggested that we check it out and we were amazed.  All the kids and adults were given the chance to drive and operate big machines.

Addie even had a good time too

While we waited for our turn…Nolan pulled his pants down and peed directly into the creek in front of many onlookers.

Months ago, James bought a lodge in a rustic location and offered us to come for the weekend.  This was such a blessing for all of us to get together and just have fun enjoying each others company.  As we jumped on four wheelers to explore the great outdoors I just twinkled in the look in the boys eyes of how much fun they were having.

As we explored the property we found frogs, a railroad track, a box turtle, and so much more.

An unforgettable moment was our EXTREME hayride.  James bought a crazy army vehicle which he had painted and filled with hay bales.  We jumped in the back end with all of our children and had him drive us around the property.

This photo below shows but doesn't give justice to the rugged terrain we were driving around on.  As we climbed a steep hill, I grabbed children and clung to them for safety but we were all okay and can live to tell the crazy story!

Relaxing by the campfire

We are so lucky to be able to get all of these great kids together to create a relationship that us grown ups had as we grew up together!  Here's to many more family moments together!
