Spontaneous spring break
This school year our plans for spring break were very low key. Staying in Ohio visiting my sister, going to COSI, and the Columbus Zoo were some of the activities on the to do list…Then my sister called and said that Addie was sick and then quickly everyone in her family came down with the flu. Not only that but it began to snow…this was the last straw…VACATION!!! Early Sunday morning I packed up the kids in the van, Bob booked our hotels even though he couldn't go because of work, I picked up my mom and Jill on the way and we traveled to Pensacola, Florida!
Road Trip…The boys were absolutely amazing in the long car ride.
Our view from the hotel window!
Pool side fun!
Everyday at 4pm there were warm cookies to enjoy by the pool!
Nolan loved the kid pool because he could run through the fountains!
They even had an indoor pool which came in handy when the wind kicked up.
My one request was to put my feet in the sand and it was truly just what I needed. The boys loved the beach. Each morning we were one of the first people on the beach to watch the sunshine and pick up shells.
This moment just made my day…they were holding hands just talking about the ocean!
Chasing away birds

Carter spent all of his time at the beach jumping into the waves.
Nolan loved to fill his shovel with sand, walk down to the water's edge, and throw the sand into the ocean.
Beach bum for sure!
We ate some great food while we were there! After dinner we would head to the ocean. We saw quite a few crabs close to the shore. Landon was so brave. He would pull up his shorts and grab the hermit crabs right out of the water.
Poolside with Maw Maw
This was the view of the beach from the pier…paradise!
One day we drove to Fort Pickens, which was a fort used during the Civil War and was later used as a prison for Indian chief Geronimo. I was amazed by the way that it was built and the boys loved it. There were tunnels built from bricks that they explored.

It was a short getaway but it was so worth it!!!
