Halloween
Today is Halloween! It started out with a Halloween party at Parents As Teachers playgroup. The boys were going to be cowboys. Landon refused to wear his cowboy boots and the boots were the only thing that Carter would wear. It was quite a morning. After that craziness I decided I better go and find something that they would wear. I went first with the boys to a second hand store and it was very picked over and there wasn't anything in their size. I then went to Old Navy. When we walked in Carter took off running to the back of the store, lightening fast. I jogged after him with Landon on my hip. I found Carter climbing through racks of clothes. I asked him to come out and he yelled "No, Mommy, No!" at the top of his lungs. I decided to put Landon down to climb in after Carter. I got Carter out of the clothes and he was a limp noodle, he refused to stand up. I look over and Landon is unloading every soccer ball that Old Navy has to purchase in the store. I begin chasing and corralling the balls and my children. I finally get the balls back in the box and have one child under each arm as I head out of the store. No purchases were made there today. I was sweating and close to a breakdown by the time I reached the Flex. Bottom line was I still didn't have something for them to wear. I proceeded to Meijer where we found one costume that I thought might fit Carter. It was a pumpkin that had a vest and a hat. By the time I got home it was past their nap time and I really had to work hard on getting them to sleep. They fell asleep at 3:30pm. We had to be at a Halloween party at 5:30 so I woke them both up from the nap and boy o boy was that a bad choice. They were both cranky. I decided to run downstairs into our storage and dig through the boxes to find a costume that Carter wore last year for Landon. Found it and it fit. I tried to get the pumpkin on Carter and he was not having it so I went and grabbed a costume my mom bought for Carter to play in last year that was 12-18months (Thomas the Train). He freaked out and would not wear that either. When we got to the party all the other kids had their costumes on so the boys decided to try it out. To Bob and I's surprise the both wore a costume and they both wore either a hood or a hat. Trick or treating this year was great. Carter would run from house to house with his bucket repeating "tick or tweet" until candy was placed in his bucket. Then he would take it out and say, "Carter eat this," every time. He was running so fast that he tripped several times and dumped his candy but quickly picked it back up. Landon had the death grip on his bucket and would roar instead of saying trick or treat. Another great memory we created!
