Beautiful weekend in October

This weekend was beautiful!  The weather was great so we took advantage of doing lots of fun fall things.  On Saturday we had to pick up our race packets for the Big House Big Heart 5k.  The expo was held at a high school and it had a kids zone to keep the kids busy.  They had 2 bouncy houses and a face painting clown.  Carter was a maniac in the bouncy house.  He loved it.  Bob suggested getting his face painted and I was sure that he would not want to do it but I was pleasantly surprised.  I asked him whether he wanted to be a monkey or a tiger and he chose a tiger.  The clown was very talented and it turned out great!  After the expo we headed to a pumpkin patch.  It was so stinkin cool.  They had lots of things set up for the kids to play with and climb on.  There were animals to feed, a fake cow to milk, a corn box instead of a sand box, a wooden train, and much more.  After the kids played we rode a tractor pulled hay wagon back to a pumpkin patch.  Carter refused to pick a pumpkin because they were too biggy.  We rode the wagon back to the front of the place and both boys picked out a gourd that was just their size.  We then headed back home and the kids were exhausted.  On Sunday we did the 5k with the boys.  My mom and her friend Jill completed the 10k and we pulled the kids in the wagon for the 5k.  You finish the race by running into the U of M stadium and finishing on the 50 yard line.  It was such a nice day.  The boys did very well in the wagon until the last half mile and we let them walk the rest of the way.  Carter ran a lot...he actually ran through the finish line.  After the race we went home and took showers and headed out for an apple orchard.  The boys fell asleep on the way there so we took at nap at Bob's mom's house and went to the orchard when they woke up.  The orchard was jam packed to the crizack!  The boys had a blast!  Carter did a great job picking the apples from the trees but when he pulled them off half the branch came with it.  Landon loved to pick up the rotting apples on the ground and bite them...yep, totally gross.  Carter had an unbelievable blow out that cut our apple experience short and we headed out early. We had a great weekend together as a family!
