Recharging at the Lodge
So sorry that it has been so long since our last blog post. I am really hoping to catch up very soon.
Spring Break 2021...Heading down to our "happy place", The Lodge in Hocking Hills. This was Penny's first trip down to explore and relax. She loved riding in the truck between Bob and I sleeping on the center counsol.
Our first favorite thing to do is to go on a nature hike on the trails to see if anything has changed since we were there last. Penny loved sniffing everything and running wild and free.
Bob had to work from the lodge so during the day it was important that we give him some space. We jumped in the car and drove into the hiking trails in Hocking Hills with Penny on her leash.
She loved it and did really well with all the people too. Since it was still in the midst of the pandemic all of the trails were only one way. However we were not aware of this until we were well into the hike. We couldn't turn around because we would pass people and that was not allowed. We didn't have water or snacks because we thought it was going to be a quick hike. Two hours later...we were tired, hungry, thirsty, and melting down. Note to self, always bring a granola bar and a bottle of water.
For Christmas, we snatched up kayaks and Maw Maw purchased a kayak to join us. Bob helped us launch them into the Hocking River right behind the Lodge and we paddled down the river.
Aunt Katie was able to swing down from Michigan for a day to explore and paddle with us.
Penny loves the water and wanted so much to grab a ride on the kayaks with us.
Our evenings were full of movie watching, relaxing, and the video game called "Just Dance".
We can't leave without taking a hike to Tight Man Squeeze which is on the property trails.
We stopped by Dragonfly Zipline to do the ropes course and zipline over the river.
Four-wheel riding with Aunt Katie is a perfect way to start the day!
Maw Maw even loves riding through the muddy trails.
Penny loved being able to just relax.

She also jumped right in the mix to ride with us in the Razor.
She was my co-pilot.
Being down at the lodge helps us to relax and recharge so we are ready to head back to reality.
