Week Eight: Quarantine May 4-10
We continue to go on lots of nature hikes and Pokemon Go walks at all different locations. At our last trip to Oberlin we stumbled upon this black rat snake out sunning itself. The boys wanted to get closer!
When we walk to Beaver Creek the squirrels are very brave because many people feed them peanuts from their hands. Landon was so patient and brave with him.
The moments of stubbornness continue with Nolan. Here are walking back home so that I can jump on a staff meeting and he decided he didn't want to walk anymore. He had already laid down in someone's yard, taken off his boots, sat in the middle of the sidewalk, and then proceeded just to stand still. I had to take my staff call from my phone without using the video or sound because we were in the midst of a power struggle.
Schoffle Garden in Berlin is a super cool place to hike also.
Maw Maw came up to join us on this hike. The tulips were all in full bloom!
Nolan refused to do much school work each day. The only way I could get him to write his spelling words or complete his math facts was if he could write his answers in chocolate syrup. Yep, that's where we are right now.
One of the boy's favorite shows to watch on Discovery Channel is Naked and Afraid. This is a show of complete survival where they drop two people on in a remote location in the nude where they have to survive for 21 days. At Beaver Creek the boys kicked off their shoes and socks and waded out into the water to explore. They asked me to leave them there for 21 days...not gonna lie the thought crossed my mind.
Carter found a crawfish and Nolan speared it.
When we were heading home, Nolan was still in the river and I leaned down to help him out of the water. Both of us toppled head over heels into the river below were we became soaked in the river water. When I looked up on the bridge a sweet little grandma was watching laughing her butt off.
Later in the week we ventured out to Mill Hollow. It was a beautiful day and the boys were back at exploring and creating a shelter. We spent almost three hours there just letting them create in the outdoors.
Their shelter!
One of the things they do on the show is use bamboo to drink from the rivers and streams. Nolan was so eager to find bamboo so that he could try it out.
Leo recovered so well from his surgery!
We are getting bored in the house...The boys took turns drawing on each other's bodies with washable markers.
Dana's birthday was Friday and so we wanted to social distance and celebrate with her. The temperature was so cold it felt like winter. I bundled up in my snow pants, winter boots, and ski mask to go sing happy birthday!
While we were there it snowed so hard on all of us!! Craziest thing I have ever seen on May 8th!
I look forward every week to the weekly chats with my Defiance College girls. Every Saturday evening at 9pm we all try and connect and catch up with one another.
Bob even had a chance to chat with his boys from high school this week!
For Mother's Day, Bob headed up to Michigan to help Angie get some outdoor work done on her house since interested buyers are able to now go through houses in Michigan. Leo went along for the day and so did Nolan and Landon. Carter stayed back with me in Ohio.
Exploring the industrial park by Angies house.
