The first broken bone in the Boone house

Well, it finally happened...the first Boone Boy to break a bone.  At the last play of Landon's basketball game, he leaped up to swat an inbounds pass out of bounds (which he did successfully) and came down on his wrist.  After the play, many of the parents turned to me and said, "Wow he jumped so high,...You need to get that boy a cape" In the ride home he mentioned that his wrist was sore and I said, "I am sure it is bud, you were so high in the air and came down hard catching yourself with your wrist."
In the middle of the night, he woke up crying about his wrist and we gave him Tylenol for the pain and an ice pack and I slept with him to see if he would need me at night.  He woke up good to go and mentioned right as he was walking out the door that it was still a little sore.  He could move it around just fine and it wasn't swollen or bruised.  I did what every terrible mom would do... I sent him to school and emailed his teacher to have her let me know if he was in too much pain.
After school when I picked him up, he was holding his wrist in a stiff position like a T-Rex would against his body.  We jumped in the car and went over to express care where they sent us to have x-rays completed.

Sure enough it was a fractured wrist.  They soft splinted him until he could be seen in two days by an orthopedic specialist. He was so bummed when the doctor mentioned that he would not be able to play sports for 4-6 weeks.

Bath time consisted of wrapping his arm in Press n' Seal so that it wouldn't get wet and him getting a sponge bath from his mama.

Early Thursday morning we ventured over to the orthopedic specialist where she read the x-rays and said that it was the best bone to break.  It would be a quick 2 months in a hard cast but with no restrictions. He was over the moon to be able to play and also to pick ou the color of his cast.

As soon as the doctors appointment was over the first thing he said was, "Can we stop at the store to get some Sharpie markers I can take back to school for my friends to sign my cast?"  I laughed and realized that to him this was the coolest thing since sliced bread. I was so lucky to be the first person to sign!

This cast hasn't set him back one bit.  The only trouble he has is getting dressed and putting his shoes on but let's be real I think he struggled with that before he had a cast!
