Basketball

Now that the boys are in Amherst Schools, we decided to give the basketball season a try over here.  In the past years we had taken them to Vermilion YMCA to play with their friends but now that they are older many of their peers are playing in traveling teams. This league also gave Bob a chance to coach the boys and their friends.  I love watching Bob coach the boys.  He does it in such a positive way.  He is very patient but still stern enough so the boys understand the expectations of the game.

Landon is a quick little scrappy player.  He anticipates the pass and steps in to snatch it up.
Carter is really fun to watch on defense as well. He never stops working hard and has been asked to guard one of the best players from the other team on defense every time down the court.  Let’s just say that the other teams do not get any easy shots. 😁

Bob and one of the coaches from another team have been working together to hold practices for their teams all season long. The league only has games on the schedule, but they knew it would be good for the boys to get in some practices as well.  The other coach, Matt Sultzer, and Bob got to know each other in baseball when Landon and his son played Fallball together.  The cool thing was that the 2 teams came in 1st and 2nd out of 6 teams during the regular season and got to play each other in the championship game.  They met every Monday night down in Oberlin, OH for practice and a mini scrimmage.  Bob snapped a few photos in hopes to capture these fun memories. I bet he will never forget the 20 minute drive every week when half of the team would pile in the van for the trip. There were a whole lot of deep breaths, laughs, shenanigans, and farts. He loved every second of it.

Pre championship game picture. So cute with the cheerleaders!!!

After a long hard fought battle, all three boys ended up on top! So proud of all the hard work they put in all season...these men are destined for big things and I will be cheering for them from the sidelines!
