The 2nd annual couples trip!

We vowed to make a couples getaway a priority once a year and we were excited to get away with the Truax's.  Maw Maw and Paw Paw watched the boys while we were gone.  Thursday morning we jumped on a plane and headed to Treasure Island, FL.
The weather was amazing when we arrived.  We started out by the pool and then headed out to the beach.

The ocean was so calm and the water temperature was the warmest I have ever felt.  We waded out quite far shuffling our feet not to step on top of stingrays.  We stumbled upon this beautiful conch shell on the ocean floor. I picked it up to see a closer look.  The creature was still alive inside and when I held it out of the water it spit salt water right in my face after this photo was taken.

We didn't rent a car  because we were within walking distance from many sights to see.  We walked over the bridge to Medira Beach.  It was hot but we enjoyed being able to take it all in.

The next evening we headed in the other direction.  We ate at Shrimpy's which was a local restaurant located in a strip mall.  We were a little skeptical at first but with the first bite we changed our minds. After dinner we walked to Ricky T's, a bar playing live music all night long.  We stayed, sang, and danced until late night.  

Saturday we had plans to parasail however the weather was cloudy, windy, and rainy so it was cancelled. We ventured out to the beach to walk along the shore but the wind was hard to bear.

 

Luckily the weather was crumby because we stumbled upon this place called "The Hut".  It was a huge Tiki hut on the boardwalk where there were a pair of men called "The Wait Duo" playing live music.  They were incredibly talented and the one guy was totally into his music.  The music was moving him to say the least...he was kicking, dancing, jamming on the guitar while singing any song the crowd requested.  It was the perfect place to be while it rained.

 

When there was a break in the rain showers, we walked around to the little shops. 

 

What better way to enjoy your last night together then playing arcade games!  We smashed some skee-ball, hoops, and dance dance revolution.

 

 

As we were walking to dinner, we bumped into a group of men riding these super cool hover boards.  They asked if we wanted to try them out and I said...Oh yeah!  What a fun experience!

Our evening dinner was at Gators which is the world's longest beachside bar.  There was music playing, dancing, and Fireball shots. Turned out to be an unforgettable evening!

 

Until next year...We will be looking forward to our getaway couples only!
