Spring break Destin, Florida

Recently Bob has taken a new role within the same company, Eaton.  It is a great next step in his career  but it relocates him to corporate headquarters in Beechwood.  This is located on the east side of Cleveland which means his trip into work is about an hour.  This role is perfect for him…He is now in charge of going to/ managing a team to head to top colleges looking for graduating engineers that can be hired and developed within Eaton.  Change is exciting and we are always up whatever plan is put before us.  Bob started his new job on Monday, left then on Wednesday for Boston to a conference; he flew back on Saturday morning.  As soon as he got home we packed the van and jumped in to drive south.  Our destination was Destin, Florida.  This was a place we had never been before so we didn't know what to expect other than white sandy beaches and sunshine.  The drive time was set for a little over 14 hours.  Thank goodness for the DVD player because the boys were troopers.
On the road family selfie!
En route Nolan would keep asking, "Where we going?"…While we were driving through Kentucky we told him we are staying in Kentucky, he said "Kentucky Cheese???"  We cracked up because we was so convinced we were headed to Chuckie Cheese.
Carter and Landon loved watching the GPS on Bob's phone to tell us step by step which direction we were headed and when to turn.
We reached our destination on Sunday around 7pm.  After all the driving we headed straight out to the beach even though the sun had already gone down.  The boys weren't timid at all…splashing and running into the ocean and it wasn't long before they were soaking wet.

The next morning the Easter Bunny had arrived.  There was an Easter egg hunt within our condo that morning.  They were all so excited as they looked all over to find.

After celebrating Easter, we lathered the boys up and headed down to the beach.  It was so fun watching them just enjoy the simple things…the waves, the sand, the sun.

Happy Easter from the beach

Carter and Landon were loving all the time they could get in the ocean.

Landon buried in the sand.

When Nolan went inside to take a nap, Bob took the boys to celebrate their reward they and been working for.  Landon read 30 books and Carter had earned 125 Accelerated Reader points so they decided to head to the arcade and putt putt golf.

One morning it was a little chilly and cloudy so we decided to check out a place called Gulfarium. This was a unique marine park that we could see animals pretty close.  Landon was so looking forward to catching a glance at some penguins.  He was so happy to see them.

This boy has such a love for penguins.

There was an unbelievable tank that had several dolphins swimming in.  The boys watched as they swam past the window.

One day we drove to Pensacola Beach to jump on a dolphin cruise.  Bob gets seasick very easy so he was taking Dramamine to be able to come on the boat with us.

We ended up having the best seats on the boat.  The dolphins swam right up to the boat.

We spent so much time on the beach.  The boys loved building sandcastles with Bob. This was the largest one they built together and as you can see they are very proud.

Each night it was high priority of Bob to find a restaurant that had fresh fish to eat.  We had a great time finding places to eat where we could sit and look out at the water.

This picture just melts my heart.   Nolan looks so grown up as he stands next to Landon, one of the brothers he can't get enough of.

Bob couldn't resist a change to snap a picture by his favorite dessert truck.

The boys love to play Jenga so when we passed by a super large version we had to stop and play a round together.

They also had a huge game of Connect Four and the boys played then posed with muscles.

Each morning we soaked up the sun.  Landon sits by the pool relaxing as he catches some rays.  His skin browns up so quickly.

Our favorite song to sing with a great beat is called "Cake by the Ocean".  Once the boys learned that we were headed to the beach, they insisted that we stop by and get cake.  We found a local bakery, headed to the beach, ate, and jammed to the song.  It was a super fun time.

We hated to leave our beautiful oasis but we headed north because there was rain in the forecast.  On the way there we passed several signs for Mammoth Cave National Park so we decided to stop through and check it out.

This was so much fun.  The boys loved exploring the cave and hiking the nature trails.

We have decided that anytime we head south we have to stop at Mammoth Cave to go hiking.

What a wonderful spring break we had together!
