Landon's most eventful day ever!
The boy's preschool field trip to Burnham's Family farm was scheduled for Thursday October 3rd. Bob wanted to go with the kids but since he was in Mexico for work, I took the day off school and went. We had such a great time together. We picked apples from the trees, watched how the apples are washed and packaged for stores, visited the biggest refrigerator full of the sweetest smelling apples ever, and watched them make cider. Next we went on a hayride, picked pumpkins from a pile, drank fresh apple juice, played at the playground, ran through a hay maze, and rode bikes through a maze. This was the first time I had the chance to see Carter and Landon with their friends from their classes interact. Landon kinda has an advantage because Morgan is in his class and they go to Becky's (the sitter) together each day. Landon insisted on finding Morgan and holding her hand throughout the day.
Carter on the other hand, was the "big man on campus". Everyone in his class came up to either just repeat his name over and over until he would acknowledge their presence or hug the guts out of him. I thought it was hysterical how often the kids would squeeze a hug from each other.

Now, still holding hands...too sweet!

Carter's friend, Kaleigh. She was the one who would repeat his name and follow him where ever he went.
One of the many group hugs!

Look at how big those t-shirts are...Carter and Landon were swimming in them for sure
Landon loved doing this race through the hay but could barely touch the pedals
Carter is growing so tall
Carter picked so many apples we had to tell him to stop
Landon didn't get into picking apples until he watched Carter start
Next, we grabbed lunch from Old McDonalds and took it to Kori and Morgan's house. Landon hardly ate anything and he had a crazy seal cough. We went home to take an afternoon nap and Landon started coughing so hard he threw up.
At 5pm Landon had his first dentist appointment. They cleaned his teeth, counted them, and sealed them. He did so great.

Once we left the dentist he started to run a low grade fever and I knew that I couldn't take him to the sitter's the next day (Friday). My mom had been up with us helping since Bob left for Mexico on Tuesday but she had to leave Friday morning to watch Lincoln and Adelynn in Columbus. I called Angie but she was busy so we called my mom's best friend Jill Bauer (we call her Jill-Bob). She said that she could come up to help but won't be there until 10pm.
We put the boys down for bed around 8pm and within a half hour Landon had coughed so hard he got sick in his bed. I nursed Nolan while mom gave Landon a bath and put him back to sleep in my bed.
Around 1am Landon woke up coughing and then he started throwing up. Carter heard him and came into my bedroom. He said, "Is it time to get up?" I said, "Nope, go get Maw Maw and she will lay down with you." Landon couldn't get himself stopped coughing. I turned on the shower to get some steam but then he started shaking and grabbing his throat gasping for air. I ran down the hallway with him in my arms to get Maw Maw. Carter was curled up outside her bedroom door as if he was practicing for a tornado drill at school. I opened my mom's bedroom door and she jumped out of bed like a tiger leaping out of his den. She grabbed Carter and put her hand under his mouth because she thought he was throwing up and I quickly said..."It's not Carter. It's Landon." She was in spaz mode...running down the hallway to get Landon in a cool bath to get his fever down (102.3) Landon was still gasping for air so we decided we were taking him to the ER. Mom woke up Jill downstairs and had her come in my bed with Carter. As we drove to the ER, Landon was crying and coughing and he says, "Mommy, we bogot Carter." Poor guy...He thought we forgot Carter at home because he was already asleep when Jill got there. At the ER, the entry nurse asked what brings us there tonight and I start to explain and realized that I am still wearing my night guard mouth piece. Yep, I was a hot mess! The nurses were so great they ushered us right back and began breathing treatments and cool mist. They gave him an IV...which this just broke my heart. He didn't fight it at all just big tears rolled down his cheeks as he cried my name. They put a splint on it so he couldn't bend it. Next we went to get chest x-rays. While they were doing this, I sent mom back to the house to get a bottle ready for Nolan in case he woke up. When she got back to the hospital they told me that since they couldn't get his oxygen level high enough so we were going by ambulance to the Cleveland Clinic downtown. I decided to run home and get clothes, snacks, toys, the pump, and my computer so I could send lesson plans for school. I got back to the hospital and realized that I forgot the pump and cooler on the counter . The squad had arrived to take us so my mom went to go back quickly to get the pump. As she was walking out the door the squad asked me for the carseat to put on the stretcher. I tried to sprint to the parking lot to flag down my mom but she drove past me like a bat out of hell while I waved my arms frantically in the air.
We finally got everything we needed and loaded into the ambulance. Landon was so brave. He fell asleep on the trip there. I however was getting car sick from riding backwards in the ambulance, having full milk jugs, no air circulation, and looking down trying to write my lesson plans. There were quite a few times when I thought I was going to puke but gritted my teeth to keep it all down.
Riding on the stretcher
When we reached the hospital, they observed him throughout the early morning hours and released us to go home by 10am. I was physically and emotionally exhausted from the whole experience but I was surrounded by such a great support system. So many people helped out whether it was getting my classroom together for a sub, sending prayers and thoughtful words, or taking care of the other boys. So blessed for such a brave little boy who trusted his mommy to keep him safe and get him healthy.
