A Day with Thomas the Train!

A while back I came across an advertisement about A Day with Thomas the Train on TV.  I thought it would be great to do with the boys.  I did some research and saw that they did it here in Michigan at Greenfield Village and also in Cleveland.  We decided to head to Cleveland to do it so we could also take advantage of seeing some friends.  We decided not to mention anything regarding the event until the day of because I know Carter would have been asking questions about it all the time.
Check out their matching Thomas shirts! Do they look excited?

When we pulled into the parking lot, we watched the train come by and Thomas was at the front.  Carter kept saying over and over, "Mommy, that's Thomas on the front." It was a beautiful day for this event.  They have tents set up all over each with a different activity.  They had a gift shop, temporary tattoo tent, a tent where you could watch Thomas movies, a train table tent, bouncing houses, and a tent full of model trains.  With the heat and the lines of people we strategically bypassed the bouncy houses without one meltdown.  Both boys loved watching the model trains racing around the Island of Sodor.
Checking out his Thomas tattoo.  He did this very often all day.

We loaded the train and found our seats.Carter quickly  made his way to the window and was glued to it the whole ride.  The train cars were decorated with streamers, posters, and balloons.During the ride the conductor talked through the loud speaker, played songs, and told a Thomas story.    To get the train going, the conductor asked the kids to shout, "Thomas, let's get moving!" Carter belted these words out with such excitement that I caught myself getting emotional because of how cute he was.  I have never seen him so excited and happy about something in his life. The train ride was beautiful through the hills and over the rivers. When our ride was over we made our way to have our family photo taken in front of Thomas. The photographer was trying to get both the boys to look at the camera by telling him that he had a booger up his nose.  He apologized for this but Bob and I agreed...whatever works to get them both to look at the same time is okay with us!  Later that day, Carter was sure to remind me about the photographer who had a booger. The last photo op we took advantage of was meeting Sir Topem Hatt.

When we left we drove down the road to the Brandywine Falls.  This is a beautiful waterfall that you can walk to see.  The boys were getting tired but they hung in there for this.  They climbed the stairs to see the waterfalls.  Then we went back to our friends house and enjoyed a great dinner and a bonfire with smores!

Today, Memorial Day, we drove to Lake LeAnn to hang out with a friend from college, Kasey Studer.  His girlfriend's family owns a house with a little beach out front.  The water was stinkin cold but the boys loved it.  I am so thankful that Bob is willing to get into the water because I am such a sissy.  I scream like I am being chased and I hardly ever get into the water.  I am good a supervising from the shore.  Carter and Landon used nets to try and catch minnows.  They sat on a raft while Bob pushed them around.  It was a great day and we had a wonderful time.
