Virginia Beach

After baseball season, we all piled into the car and drove over to Virginia Beach for our family vacation. This is a place we had never been before so we were excited to experience a new place.  We drove the first night until Washington D.C. area

Our hotel was a part of an indoor/outdoor shopping center so we were able to walk around and explore after being in the car for a long time.  Sleeping in hotel rooms is always an adventure with us.  Landon ended up wrapped like a burrito at the end of the bed in the morning.

The hotel toilet had a bidet and the boys were intrigued.  Nolan spent quite some time trying to convince himself that he wouldn't be spraying toilet bowl water on his bottom if he used it.  He finally got up enough courage to use it on the last day and he said, "Mom whoever invented that should be fired!"

We arrived at our hotel right on the beach!  It was a beautiful view from the balcony.

The weather was beautiful and the water was tolerable so the boys were out there a lot.  The waves were larger that we expected so it was perfect for boogie boarding.

Playing in the sand is a must on the trip.
Bob was having just as much fun at the kids in the water.

They made their own little sand seats on the beach.

Each night one boy would have to sleep on the twin air mattress between the beds.  Nolan seemed to enjoy it.

Landon loves being buried in the sand.

We ate dinner at a local Mexican restaurant and then had dessert at Ben and Jerry's.  While we finished our ice cream a huge rain storm came through and we raced back to the hotel.  We were absolutely drenched.
The hotel was super close to a naval air base and planes would fly over frequently.

Throughout the city, many artists had painted wings and Landon loved posing with each set of wings.
Grandma Angie sent the boys a bit of spending cash with them on the trip and they purchased their very own boogie boards.

I even gave it my best shot at riding the waves on the boogie boards.

The sunrise was impressive and the amount of dolphins we saw was incredible.

Thankfully the boys brought their scooters to ride on the paved boardwalk.

On our last day in Virgina Beach we stopped by the aquarium to check out the fish!

Touching stingrays

As we left the town we played a quick 18 holes of putt putt golf and rode go karts.

On the voyage home we stayed in Williamsburg for two nights at Great Wolf Lodge.  The boys purchased their "wands" to participate with the MagiQuest game within the hotel.

A nice day trip to Colonial Williamsburg...we didn't have the patience to listen to each actor tell us about each part of the city but took in the sites on our own.

Relaxing out by the pool!

After completing your quest, there is a knighting ceremony in the lobby.

On the last day, Landon turned 11 years old!!  So hard to believe how quickly time flies!

To celebrate his birthday we did a white water tubing trip in Pennsylvania.

What a wonderful family vacation we had!!!
