Sweet Penny

Since our unfortunate events with Leo (see August 2020 post) we can't stop thinking about getting a dog that is a better fit for our family.  We began looking for golden retriever puppies and stumbled upon a local connection with a family. Bob had coached in T-ball one of their children.  They had two golden retrievers and they were going to breed them for the first time.  We thought this was just meant to be.  A litter of 5 puppies (3 girls, 2 boys) were born on October 30, 2020.

In December the puppies were old enough for us to visit and choose which one was the best fit for our family.  We masked up and went over to their house.  They had color collars on so we could tell them apart.  Pink collar was so shy and timid.  She shook for quite a bit of time.  Red collar was a crazy woman. She was running around and had tremendous amounts of energy. Purple collar was just right.  She had spunk but was eager to cuddle.  We decided Purple was going to be part of the Boone family.  We named her Penny.

On December 23rd, we surprised the boys by bringing her home earlier than we told them.  She was so happy to be here and the boys were so excited!

She loves to rest in her crate.
On Christmas Eve, we got 15 inches of snow throughout the night and it was her first snow ever.  She loves being out in the snow!

She is growing up so fast!  She loves to cuddle and play.  Outside is her favorite place to be!

She absolutely loves baths and showers.  While I was putting my clothes away, Landon was taking a bath and she jumped right in the tub with him.  After her bath, she enjoys being dried with the hair dryer.

It has been so crazy to watch how big her paws are and how long her legs are getting!

She has about two times a day that we call the "witching hour" where she is crazy like a puppy.  She jumps and nips and wants to play rough but then she crashes!

We are loving her so much!

So I don't have any girls to dress up so Penny is my sweet girl!  Of course she wears a flower on her collar!

The boys love her very much!
