Weekend of Baseball in Columbus

Image
On Thursday we packed up the minivan and traveled down to Columbus for the state baseball tournament.  At first it was to be located right in the heart of Columbus but due to Co-vid 19 many small towns had agreed to take on an age group of teams to host. We ended up in a town near Newark, Ohio.  The park was beautiful and the fields were great.  Being down south was a great chance for Aunt Sharon, Uncle Larry, Amy, Gavin, and Samantha to sneak over and watch the boys play.  The love having them there to cheer them on. Thursday we won one game.  Friday we won one and lost one.  That put us in the gold bracket for the “win and keep playing” chance for a state championship.  Saturday we won our first game and then our second game came down to extra innings.  Landon and Carter were both up to bat that inning and I was so nervous but they both came through with some big hits to help lead their team to victory.   Sunday we started off early...

June 8-14...Carter’s birthday and some sense of normalcy

We are really started to try our best to accept this new norm and still live like we want to again.  This summer is a lot of fun for many different reasons but one of the great ones is how much the boys love to ride their bikes.  We have been taking quite a few long bike rides where everyone can keep up together. Leo is really stretching out and not looking like a puppy anymore.  He is doing well but still nipping so much with his teeth. So this week I have been teaching Camp Invention which is a super cool science camp online with students all over the USA.  I am having such a blast! On June 10th, 2020 Carter turned 11 years old!!  He is growing up way too fast.  For his birthday he research and found out which type of Hover Board he wanted and was willing to pay a portion of it to get exactly what he wanted.  As the kids get older the more expensive the gifts are becoming. We hosted a backyard birthday party with our neighbor...

June 1-7...phasing back into the world

The boys have been giddy with the chance to fish so we connected with our friends to fish at a local park.  We showed up with 10 kids from the ages of 11-3 with poles, worms, hot dogs, and fishing hooks.  I was so impressed with how well they all did together with hooks at close proximity!  Every one of the kids caught a fish at some point during the day. Landon loves spending time with sweet Gabe. After fishing we braved the Vermilion River at Mill Hollow. The current was moving quite quickly as we crossed. Leo is stretching out and getting taller. There were a few cooler evenings so the boys opened up the camper and slept out in the backyard together! Over quarantine not only have the little boys been growing out their hair but Bob had used this time to grow out his facial hair.  As he approaches the time where we can get back out in the world, he has been experimenting with all the different ways he can wear his facial hair.  ...
