Week Three: shelter in place (March 30-April 3)
As you know Nolan mostly but the boys have been asking for a puppy for years! We have always said that we were too busy to have time to train a puppy. Well, guess what, thanks to the quarantine all we have is time. I had been watching the APL to see if they had any puppies to adopt. All the stars aligned and they did. However, they had to deliver the puppy to your house in a crate so there was no contact. We didn't tell the boys that the puppy was arriving. Bob jumped in the shower and just as he was shampooing his hair they arrived so he jumped out and ran downstairs. The boys were shocked. Nolan cried, Landon swooned, and Carter asked a billion questions (Is that our puppy? Are you for real? etc.)
Silly side note: The puppy was named Loki at the APL and for some reason that sounded like a girl name to me. I had Bob pick up girl color toys, harness, and bed. After Loki, arrived we began to explore the house and within 5 minutes he peed on the rug. Bob and I were on our bellies and once he was peeing, Bob looked at me and said, "So are we a 100% sure it's a girl??" Turns out Loki is a boy...I had no idea that the name Loki comes from a Marvel movie of a male bad guy. We decided to name him Leonardo...we call him Leo for short.
He was born 1/31/20 and is a Hound/Shephard/Retriever Mix. We are unsure about how big he will be when he is full-grown. He was 8 weeks old when he arrived at our house.
He has puppy breath and extremely sharp puppy teeth!
He loves to be outside but does not prefer a leash.
He loves to drink my coffee in the morning!
Nolan is quite obsessed and loves to pick him up all the time.
The boys often argue about who will walk him, sleep with him, give him treats, and feed him.
The other evening the APL was featured on FOX 8 News here in Cleveland and the boy's photo was broadcasted. So many people reached out to let us know the boys were famous.
We are enjoying every moment with this sweet puppy Leo.
