In the midst of extended time off: Week One (March 16-20)
In the midst of the this coronavirus, we are not at school. We are allowed to be outdoors but have to be within 6 feet of others "social distancing" is what it is being called.
What does time off at the Boone house look like???
We spent time each day working hard on school work that has been assigned digitally for each one of the boys. Landon has been the hardest willingness learner of the whole household. He gets right to work checking tasks off his list.
Next we went to Shopflee Gardens in Birmingham to check out the nature hiking trails there.
We ventured out a new metropark called Day's Dam. It is a super cool waterfall in the middle of South Lorain just down from the boys baseball field.
Our little free library out front of our house has been visited frequently this week. I love seeing people out walking in the neighborhood with their animals and families. I have restocked the library with lots of new books for kids and adults to help keep their minds busy.
Trying to keep the kids busy has been the ultimate goal each day. They often wrestle, fight, chase each other and more throughout the day as I try to teach my kindergarten students from home and Bob tries hard to work from home upstairs. It has been a struggle for us all but we are doing just fine.
Saturday morning and afternoon was a steady day full of nerf wars. We constructed bases and forts for protection within our nerf wars. Super fun while we try hard to keep some "normal" within our lives. Each night we have watched a movie together as a family on the couch with popcorn.
This has not only been hard for the kids to understand that they can't have playdates with friends and honestly it has been hard for the adults too. As many of you know, I am used to a very busy lifestyle which includes lots of social interactions and this has been a struggle for me. To help keep my sanity, I have organized many group video chats with friends all over the globe to connect and help each other through this time. All of my college volleyball teammates, my girls weekend girls, gathered together to chat and it was full of giggles and smiles and it helped so much after this first week of staying at home.
So far it looks like we might be "social distancing" ourselves for quite some time so stay tuned for week two events.

We explored a Metropark every day for a chance to get out of the house, breathe fresh air, and run off some of the energy these boys have.
