Oh the days of our lives...

Here are some silly moments I don't want to forget:
A few weeks ago after school we went up to have dinner at Brew Kettle, a local restaurant in downtown Amherst.  This is a place where Bob goes to eat wings so they recognize him when we arrive.  After our meal it was a beautiful evening so we decided to walk to the ice cream store a few blocks over.  Once we ordered ice cream for everyone in the family, Carter said that he had to use the restroom.  Of course there were no public restrooms so Carter and I began to walk up and down the streets looking for a business open.  The closest place was a coffee shop downtown that I have been dying to stop in and see.  When we walked in, a student I had many years ago was the cashier.  I stopped to chat with her while Carter ran to the bathroom.  I felt guilty for stopping in to this place of business without purchasing anything while my son dropped a load in their bathroom, so I ordered a hot chocolate.  After ordering I reached in my purse to grab my wallet and to my dismay it was not there.  I had given it to Bob to pay for the ice cream.  I was so embarrassed and told her that Bob would be stopping by and I would pay for my hot chocolate then.
It was taking Bob quite a while to get there and I was getting worried.  The look on his face when he arrived carrying three melting ice cream cones along with my wallet was epic.  Turns out on the walk to the coffee shop, Nolan tripped and fell in someone's driveway and his ice cream flipped over onto the sidewalk.  He scrapped his knees and had gravel in his ice cream.  Bob scrapped off the gravel and helped him walk all the way to the coffee shop so I could pay for my hot chocolate.
We are a hot mess!

At the beginning of May,  Nolan started not feeling well with a slight fever and then he would ask for a nap so we knew something was up.  We took him in to the doctor and he tested positive for strep.  The next day, Landon said it felt like he was swallowing glass: yep, positive for strep.  The next day Bob felt terrible, yep: positive for strep.  Carter and I went to the doctor that evening to be swabbed and it turns out Carter was positive for strep also.  We were a hot mess!  I was the only one not on antibiotic for strep.  I guess that is another great perk of working in the elementary school with young kids:strong immunity!

Yesterday we went to Mill Hollow to explore and throw rocks in the river.  The boys could do this for hours and they did!  I told them that I didn't have another change of clothes with me this time so they would have to ride home in the nude.  This can be a normal occurrence so they weren't phased by it too much.  As I am looking back in the rear view mirror, I notice Nolan is getting out his new toothbrush from his dentist appointment and brushing his penis with it.  I had to say these words, "Nolan please do not use your new toothbrush to brush your penis."...never in a million years did I think those were words I would say in a sentence together.  Within two minutes of that, Nolan began screaming and crying that a bee had flown in and landed on his leg.  I quick pulled over, he jumped from the back seat up to the center counsel so fast he was just a skin blur.  The bee was traumatized and curled up on his carseat because Nolan beat him to a pulp with his new toothbrush.  So the moral of the story is...always keep a toothbrush on hand in the car because it can be used in so many useful ways.
