Allowance

Behavior management is always something we are working on here at the Boone House so this year we are trying out incorporating money into the equation.  A calendar hangs in their bedroom where they record how the day went.  If they are in timeout that day the get an "X" along with a written explanation used to remind them from then on of previous consequences.  If they have a great day they get to choose a sticker for the day to put on the calendar.  Once the month is over we count out how many days they had stickers and they earn a penny for each day.  In January both boys earned 26 pennies and then Bob and I match what they earned.  This was too funny watching them count out their pennies.

It was so funny to see how excited they were about carrying 26 pennies to their piggy bank.  I asked Carter if he wanted to exchange his pennies for a quarter and one penny and he said, "No way, I want ALL of these pennies!"
