Landon is 3 years old!

Image
This little man is three years old.  A firecracker for sure.  He is always on the go trying to catch the shirt tail of his older brother.  He echos his words and does all his stunts.  He is my sensitive one and easily gets his feelings hurt.  He is the clown of the bunch and is easily fueled by the laughter of others.  We love his sweetness and his generosity.  Landon is the poster child for "the middle child" characteristics. I hate to compare but we all do...He is much more willing to try new things than Carter was but has no interest in academic ideas of any sort. He rides a two wheel bike with training wheels like a champ.  He also jumps in to the pool with no fear and goes under without fear. For his birthday we went to Barnes and Nobles where he played with the train table for quite some time and grabbed a cupcake from the bakery.  He opened the remaining Rescue Bots to complete the team and Carter and him played with them for hour...

Lincoln's Baptism

Image
Last week we drove down to Columbus for Lincoln's Baptism.  Danielle and Edd has asked me to be Lincoln's Godmother.  This is a honor to be such a big part of Lincoln's life.  He is a little cutie and I can't get wait to watch him grow. The service was held at the same church where D and Edd were married and where Adelynn was baptized. It is a beautiful church with a gorgeous fount for baptism. After the baptism we all went back to their house for a BBQ.  It was a wonderful day. Lincoln getting baptized  What a great picture Grandma Grocho snuggles with with Nolan Look at this family picture...Nolan is passed out in his car seat and the boys are sitting on top of a table at a church...we are a hot mess. Back at the BBQ, Adelynn is a daredevil.  Look at the ornery face.

First Family Pets

Image
Carter has been talking about getting a pet for awhile.  Bob would get a dog in a heartbeat but this momma vetoes that decision right now.  A happy compromise are fish!  I snagged a fish tank with filter and we have been waiting for the perfect time to get the new additions.  Now that we are in our home I thought it would be great to do it.  The boys are completing their daily chore charts to earn their pets.  Everytime that they stray just a quick reminder of the fish helps get them back on track. The boys helped Bob to scrub up the tank and get it ready.   After cleaning the tank it was time to go and pick out the new pets.  At the pet store I was asking so many questions about water temperature, feeding, cleaning, etc and the man thought I was insane because they are really just goldfish.  Anyways the boys were over the moon with getting to choose their fish.  Carter wanted the "super fast" fish which he then named Dorthy ...

Camping Out in the Backyard!

Image
Since I can remember Bob has wanted to camp out the backyard with the boys.  Now we have a backyard where that can really happen.  The boys helped Bob set up the tent and carry out their pillows and blankets.  At the new house there is a fire pit so we tried it out and made smores.  Carter couldn't wait for the marshmallows to cook so he ate a cold marshmallow smore. After bath all three boys tracked outside with their Thomas flashlights to sleep in the tent.  Bob said, "Heidi stay inside and enjoy a night with just Nolan."  I thought that was awesome.  As soon as the boys went out back I did laundry, swept every room of the house, did dishes and blogged.  You will be amazed how much you can get done with only one child.  When it comes to the night of sleeping that was another story.  I am terrified of being by myself at night so I quickly tip toed out to the tent to join in the fun.  Everyone slept so good that night we decided to ...

Splashing with Old Friends

Image
With us back here in Ohio, I have been trying to get together with as many friends as we can.  In the fall the boys will be returning to Becky's (our babysitter we had before we moved) so we have been seeing her so the boys feel comfortable with her.  Carter said that he remembers her but Landon was under 12 months old so he doesn't.  She is absolutely amazing with the kids and I am not worried.  This week we headed over to her house for a pool playdate.  She has an in ground heated pool...yep doesn't get much better than that! The boys love the water.  They were jumping in and loving it just as much as I was.  All of the kids that also stay with Becky were their to play too! All of the older kids were jumping off the diving board into the deep end.  It was only a matter of time before Carter asked to join in.  He quickly grabbed a floaty and goggles and cannonballed into the water without looking back.  Landon was hesitant...

Fourth of July

Image
Midst the craziness of unpacking we took some time to enjoy the Fourth of July! We packed up the kids and made it to the Lakeview Beach to watch the fireworks over the lake.  Before kids Bob and I used to walk to this park from our first home.  As we watched the bursts of colors explode in the air we talked about how it feels like just yesterday we were here doing this alone and now we are there with 3 more people.  How quickly life can change...you can be sure I shed a tear over that realization. I am always looking for something new and fun to do with the kids.  I found a strawberry planting kit.  It includes these dirt discs that expand when you add water.  What a stinkin cool science experiment for the boys. The package said "Guaranteed to grow"  Let's do it! The boys check it every day to see if there are any strawberries yet. The boys loved having Adelynn there to spend time with.  Snacking on animal crackers was a favorite...

Settled In

We have officially moved back to Ohio! The last week of June the movers showed up to our house in Michigan.  Two men, lots of cardboard, tape, and a huge semi truck! They spent the first day packing the truck with all of our things that we had shoved into the storage unit.  At times they would have to unpack our boxes and repack them so the moving company would insure them.  Tuesday was pouring down rain and they had to move the remainder of our things.  They loaded the boxes from the garage and a room in the house into the truck then they had to pack the rest of our things.  I love the simplicity of having someone pack for you but it's hard to watch someone pack your things without being able to organize it.  During this time the boys were out of control...running through the house jumping over boxes, using boxes as tunnels, and getting into the way.  I quickly made the decision to head to the Treehouse to wear out the boys.  Once we returned our...

Two Months Old!

Image
Nolan is two months old!  He is so smiley and happy.  We are enjoying him so much!  He is so easy going which is imperative with our family.  The best sleeper award of the bunch goes to Nolan.  He is currently sleeping from 10:30 to about 3am, eats and then goes right back to sleep until around 8am!  We are up more with Carter and Landon than with Nolan. He still has crazy hair!  It has become such a conversation piece when we go out in public. Carter is so proud to be a big brother!

Our Last Week in Michigan

Image
With the days of residence in Michigan quickly passing we tried to squeeze the most time we could to spend with our friends and family. On Monday we met Zuzana, Albert, and Greta at Silver Lake.  There is a small beach area that leads down the lake. We were the only ones there for about an hour and then a few people showed up but for the most part we were the only ones there.  It was great fun!  We munched on snacks for lunch! Albert and the boys created a waterfall in the sand On Tuesday we went to our favorite place to pick strawberries...Degroots!  Wow, was it packed.  Everyone was picking strawberries.  As soon as the tractor dropped us off at the field Landon needed to use the bathroom.  After making it to the outhouse, we got back to picking and then Carter needed to go.  I tell you what sometimes I feel like I am always in the bathroom. Picking strawberries is so much fun.  I love to watch the boys search for the ripe st...
