A Christmas Visit to Ohio
The week between Christmas and New Year's Bob's company has shut down so we get to spend the whole week together. When I was teaching it was great because we had some relaxing time together without the hustle and bustle. Now that I am home with the boys it's even better because we get to spend lots of time just being a family. I always look forward to having him home with us. With that being said it gives us the chance to make the most out of the holidays. We drove to Sandusky, Ohio on Thursday and met friends from college who were home from South Carolina for lunch. We drove straight there and got in a traffic jam on the turnpike so when we met them at Bob Evans the last thing the boys wanted to do was sit still. They were maniacs. We took turns walking around with them while the other shoveled in our meal and chatted with our friends. Bob and I both agree that walking the boys around a restaurant is not okay but who could blame them at that point. We definitely got the bad parent award for that outing. Next, we went to Kalahari which is a HUGE indoor waterpark hotel. It is super cool. Bob's sister, mom, sister's boyfriend and his kids met us there to share the room. All the kids have to wear life jackets if they are under a certain height. Carter was fine with this the last time we came but this time both boys were annoyed by them.
Carter slides down the slippery slope.
Landon loved going down the slides too!
Just recently I have noticed the bond that the boys are creating with each other. Don't get me wrong it was there earlier than this but they are now communicating with each other about it. Every morning they seek each out and yell for each other. Once they see each other their eyes light up and they either hug or just smile at each other. Carter holds Landon's hand and takes him to where he would like for him to go. They eat off each other's plate at every meal. Landon loves to do, say, eat, and repeat everything exactly how Carter does it. It just warms my heart to see this bond developing between them as they grow.
Thursday evening while in Ohio we met up with a few friends that we love to see. It was a very quick visit so it was hard to get with everyone but we will be back soon. We made it over the Truax household where we got caught up about how their holidays went. Then we drove over to Matt's house to get together with other friends. There is just nothing better than being with people who make you laugh. I can't tell you how much I miss each and everyone of them.
