What the HFM?

Oh, yes...just when I thought that we had everything... Last Sunday evening the boys randomly spiked a fever of 103.  This was strange because it came all of a sudden and with no other symptoms.  On Monday they were fine so they went to daycare.  I picked Carter up and we always use the potty before we go because it's about a 25 minute car ride.  I noticed that he had several red spots on his thigh.  I thought it was his eczema because of the heat.  From daycare to home the spots continued to appear until they pretty much covered his whole entire body.  He has them between his toes and fingers too.  At night he began to itch them uncontrollably and they would bleed.  I took them both in on Tuesday because Landon started to have a few on his chin.  The doctor says that it is Hand Foot and Mouth Disease.  This is what is being passed around right now at daycare.  The time when it is contagious is when the fever is present a...

Earning our Birdwatching Badge!

Image
Over the summer we visited friends in Ohio who had bird feeders in their back yard.  The birds were flying in like crazy to eat and the boys were watching them so intently.  I told myself that we should get a bird feeder but you know I kinda forgot about it.  At work, Donna, the lady I love that I work with, put out a feeder, bird bath, and a suet for the birds to eat and the kids to watch.  It reminded me that I wanted to get one for our house.  My mother in law is an avid bird watcher.  She has several bird feeders in her yard.  She was in town this past week so I mentioned my interest in a bird feeder.  To my surprise she showed up with not only one, but several feeders, seed, and posts.  She was so excited to be a part of this experience with the boys.  Carter helped to dig the hole for the post. They both poured seed into the feeder.  They look for birds everyday.  We have been fortunate to see several....

A Weekend with Wonderful Weather

This March was been pleasantly warm and we have been enjoying every minute of it! We went to Hudson Mills Meteropark and spent the afternoon playing disc golf.  Bob loves to play this outdoor game and I am starting to get the hang of it too!  The boys loved to chase the discs after they were thrown...kinda like a puppy chasing a stick! Landon throws the frisbee pretty well. Sunday morning we went back to the park and had a pancake breakfast along with listening to the maple sugaring presentation.  I was very worried that the boys would not last for the 30 minute presentation but I was so floored that Carter was hanging on every word.  The presenter gave an analogy that the pressure in the tree was like a balloon inflating and deflating.  Carter now believes that there is a balloon in every tree.  He said, "I get the balloon out of the tree and I pop it!" Gotta work on that one. Carter was the first one to follow the lady to the tree to w...

Our first birthday party!

Image
Last weekend, I was sick.  I had been on a zpack for a sinus infection and then it seemed like it wasn't getting better but worse.  I went back to the doctor and they said that I had finally gotten the full blown flu.  I was running a fever, body chills, and couldn't keep food down.  They gave me a shot and by Sunday I was feeling much better.  On Saturday though, we had been invited to a double birthday party at Jump City.  This is a place with the inflatable jump houses.  I rested enough that I could go because I wanted to see the boys enjoy this place.  Oh my goodness, when we arrived Carter took off running into the first big jumpy thing.  He couldn't get enough of this place.  He climbed from one structure and ran to the next.  Landon was a little too small to climb up the big things that Carter was doing but Bob helped him up and he was all smiles.  I was concerned how they were going to react when they weren't the kids o...

I'm an Auntie!

On February 27, my sister had a beautiful baby girl.  Adelynn Louise Vilt!  We headed down to Columbus to meet her two weeks ago.  The boys were so cute with her.  They wanted to just kiss and kiss her to death.  I loved just cuddling with her in my arms.  It made be get the itch for another little one.  A baby girl just looked so right in Bob's arms.     She just pooped on me like a water hose.  If you look close you can see the yellow on my shirt. The two proud parents! Isn't she just precious!  I am so happy to be an auntie!
