Vacation Fun!

Image
We have just returned from our vacation to Pawley's Island, South Carolina. We left on Wednesday evening after bath time, drove straight through the night, and arrived around 7:30am. Carter did very well on the trip down. He slept through the night and woke up right around the time we got there. We met friends from college there. We had a blast. We spent most of the time either at the beach or at the pool. This was Carter's first time to the ocean. I was worried that he was not going to like it but boy, was I wrong. He loved to walk toward the waves and dig in the sand. At one point he was crawling on the beach and he put his face down to taste the water. Yuck! He also tasted sand several times. We saw dolphins on the second trip to the beach. One night we had dinner at a Japanese restaurant . He loved their food but the clanging of the knives freaked him out. The last day we were there we went down to Columbia, SC to visit some more friends. It was a very hot

Carter's First Birthday!

Image
We celebrated Carter's first birthday with family on Saturday afternoon. He had a monkey cake. He was very hesitant at first to try the cake but then he was loving it. He wanted to share the cake with everyone. We also had ice cream which he loved too! For his birthday he got a pool to play in. Yesterday he jumped in with his clothes on and was a splashing maniac. He is a little fish. Check out his soggy diaper-once that diaper hit the max absorption we switched to a swimmy diaper.

Life in the new house!

So we are officially in the new house and adjusting to our surroundings. Carter has slept one night in his crib. Ahhhh! He is also getting some top teeth that are causing him major pains. He loves how much space there is in the new house that he can drive his trucks all over. A down fall is that when he can't find us he just sits and cries until you find him or play a game of Marco Polo to assist him in the game of hide and seek. We love the backyard. Bob spent a little over 2 hrs mowing on Sunday and I could hear him grunting the whole time. He loves doing those manly things. We have also found out that the backyard is an animal sanctuary. We have Gary the groundhog that lives under the shed. Bob has a plan for him. I have seen a bird fight with a hawk who was eating a mouse being dive bombed by blue jays, black birds, robins, and cardinals. That was intense. We watched from inside the safe house. Also we have a deer named Denise who will walk right up to the deck a

Our Trip to Chicago

Image
Over Memorial Day weekend we took a little road trip to Chicago to celebrate Danielle's bachelorette party and enjoy the town. We arrived on Saturday and walked down to Grant Park. Carter played in the big fountain. He loved it. There were so many kids around he was memorized trying to keep up with all of them. That evening Danielle, her friends and I headed out for dinner and then to Howl at the Moon. This was a great time! D had to sing and dance up on stage! On Sunday Bob, Carter, D, and I went to Schedd Aquarium. We were one of the few there at that morning so we got to play in the play zone. Carter loved this part. He was so excited to touch and play in the water. After the aquarium, Carter joined the girls to shop down Michigan Ave. We left on Monday morning and headed back to Ohio. We arrived home around 1pm to our new home. Many close friends and family were here to help unload. We were so fortunate to have them help because that has made the settling in a
