Russell Wilson Project

Image
Landon's reading teacher created a project where students were able to choose a famous Ohioan to research and present.  Landon chose Russell Wilson to research.  He was so interested in this project...more than I have seen him yet this year.  Students were encouraged to dress like their famous person to present in a wax museum setting within the cafeteria.  Game face on!! He did such a great job at presenting his speech. Landon had a few other friends who chose the same famous person.  Jayden Kettlemen and Ben Dotson showed their love for Russel Wilson. Hayden and Jameson were Stephen Curry. It was such a super cool event that we were so lucky to get the opportunity to see.

40 years together

Image
In November my parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.  This is a success worth celebrating for sure.  We hosted a small get together of their closest friends and family to share their memories and also their love.  We busted out all their wedding memorabilia...their photo album, cake topper, goblets, napkins, and invite.  Look at those love birds...40 years strong. Cheers...the only thing missing is Danielle! This is Theresa Young and her two boys  Mom's college roommate...Sue. Grandma Grocho and Judy. It was a great evening shared together here's to another 40 more!

Carters first band concert

Image
This is Carter's first year in band.  He chose the clarinet as his instrument of choice.  He has been diligently practicing for the Christmas concert for quite some time.  There are have been moments of frustration and excitement as he muddles through figuring out this new concept. He was so eager to perform however he was quite nervous too.  He shows worry/anxiety differently than others.  He has to talk through all the situations that can occur and you can attempt to give my guidance at how to handle it but there is a high chance he might not accept those suggestions willingly.  As the students paraded into the gymnasium with their instruments, you could see his smile however his nerves were there too! He played so well and at the end he was overwhelmed with his satisfaction!  Success is sweet! Handsome boys...Carter and Aiden Haney All the siblings showing some love for the performers!

Picking out the Christmas tree

Image
Each year the highlight of the holiday season starts with the cutting of our family Christmas tree.  This year we hustled out a Friday after school between practices and evening events to snag the perfect tree. We visit Wilcox Family Tree Farm in Grafton.  It is the best place run by the sweetest family.  They are so excited to see everyone stop by. Our first job is to always grab the sharpest saw for each of the boys...this always makes me nervous. Giving three young boys sharp metal saws and asking them to walk (which let's be real never happens, they run everywhere) through the woods is a death trap. This is where I take big deep breaths and send a few prayers up for safety. So, the first tree both Bob and I saw was the one that we ended up coming back to and cutting down.  We never look for a huge tree just the tree that fits our family the best. My absolute favorite thing that happened was when the boys wanted to cut it down at the same time toget...

Shotgun shells

Image
Another Nolan story that resulted in a #parentfail moment for the Boones. While walking around the Lodge over break, Nolan loves to pick up and find shotgun shells.  Paw Paw brought his gun down to shoot for pleasure.  Nolan picked up all the shells and put them in his coat pocket.  Monday comes around and he still has them in his pocket at school.  Mrs. Carpenter, Nolan's sweet first grade teacher, asks him not to get them out at school.  Email received by me that I might want to take those out before school on Tuesday.

Thanksgiving

Image
Thanksgiving...so much to be grateful for! We jumped in the car and headed down to the Lodge for Thanksgiving.  We love the time we all get to spend together there.  We missed quite a few family members this year.  We spent a lot of time outdoors on nature hikes and four-wheeler rides. Bob loves Aunt Judy's homemade stuffing. After we finished up on Friday morning we drove up to Michigan to spend time with the Boone's. Katie had just got her first deer and the boys loved pretending to wear the antlers. Gotta love backyard football with cousins. Aunt Katie even had an art project ready for the boys to complete.  It was the first thing they asked to be hung up when we got home.

Family Photos 2019

Image
It's time for our annual family photo shoot.  We frequently use our favorite photographer, Sam, however she is very busy with her three boys and it makes scheduling impossible.  With that being said we decided to try someone new.  This photographer is a local father within the community that also photographs Amherst Soccer teams, seniors, and weddings.  We met him up at the historical Society in Amherst after school for a quick photo shoot.  The pictures turned out so well. I am always so grateful for these family photos each as a chance to reflect on how much they have grown and changed over the last 365 days.
