Rudolph at Playhouse Square

Image
Each holiday season we look forward to taking Aunt Katie and Grandma Angie to a play at Play House Square in Cleveland.  This year we lucked out and nailed tickets to Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.         Our seats were great and the performance was just like the tv show.  It was just delightful!     Get time together!!!

Fun as a family

Mud is our middle name...one warm day in December means a trip for a nature hike. We found a hornet nest and the boys knocked it out of the tree.  I wanted to take it into my classroom however the boys insisted that the hibernating bees will wake up and sting the students.  I decided to follow their suggestions. One of the many fun holiday events was visiting Santa and Mrs. Claus at Lakeview Park.  The metro parks had cute little crafts and activities for the boys to participate in and have their photo taken.  My only concern was that they wear a holiday shirt...Landon chose his bright orange shorts to wear...pick your battles, right?   Maw Maw and Paw Paw joined us in the fun too!     It was a great day enjoying the weather and fun times together.

The wonderful Samantha, of Firefly Photography, once again nailed it with our family photos.  We met her at Quarry Hill Orchards at the century home for our shoot.

Parent Fail

There are a few moments in this crazy life that we feel like we are killing' this parenting gig, but more often than not we are uncertain and in survival mode. A few weeks ago, Carter's class had earned perfect attendance for the week at school and their reward was "board game" day.  This school year during my observation I had used all our Jenga games to paint them up to personalize instruction in my Kindergarten class.  The boys hadn't played that game in a while so I left them all at school...except one. When I got home from school that day I asked Carter, "How did game day go at school?" "It was fun except my teacher made me take out the inappropriate blocks." he said. Me, "What game did you take? I am so confused." "Jenga Truth or Dare." Carter said Instantly I knew we were going to have a lot of explaining to do.  This was a game we either received as a gag gift or bought during our college years (over 15 years

Thanksgiving 2018

Thanksgiving is such a great time of year.  We were so excited because not only were we headed to spend time with family but Aunt D, Uncle Edd, Addie, Lincoln, and Maylee were coming back to Ohio. Early Wednesday morning we drove down to the Lodge and the fun began...board games, four wheeler rides, nature hikes, and eating...lots of eating! This year we had our first ever turkey trot race at the Lodge, Chad had a great idea that everyone would create a turkey headdress to wear during the race. The kids were so excited to participate and finish the big race.  I think this might be an annual tradition at Thanksgiving. These super cute kids love to spend time together at the lodge. Logan is getting so big! The game "Bean Boozilled" was a huge hit until both Nolan and Landon started puking after eating a jelly bean flavor of spilled milk and canned dog food.       We traveled up to Michigan on Saturday for more food and time with family.  After e
