One last summer hurrah

Image
Bob begins contract negotiations next week and he has been preparing for this for quite some time so we woke up Saturday morning and said let's do something fun…Let's go to Great Wolf Lodge for the night!!  I love how spontaneous we can be.  When we shared the news with the kids they were jumping up and down.   Storytime with the crazy tree characters.  Nolan was completely amazed.   The last time that we were there Nolan was not mobile.  We sat him in front of the fountain and he loved it.  This time…totally different.  He was following Carter and Landon everywhere.  When the bell rings and the bucket drops he would lock his gaze on the crowd of people that would get drenched.  He was even brave enough to go down the water slides solo.   Check out this guy…crossing the cargo net.  He was so proud of himself once he made it across! Check out Nolan headed down the slide…a blur.  Don't wo...

Getting Messy

Image
Oh, how we love to get messy at this house! I found some fun science sensory experiments on pinterest to try out with the boys.  Our first experiment was erupting watermelons.  Anything that erupts is fun! Next was watermelon slime.  This recipe included corn starch, glue, black beans, and kool aid. This was so messy.  Thank goodness for a rainy day because after this crazy exploration the boys jumped in the mud puddles to rinse off! Foam Dough…yeah right, it sounds like so much fun but it was definitely a fail.  It was corn starch and shaving cream mixed together.  This was a hot mess.  Nolan enjoyed it the most. This is what I caught Carter doing…brotherly love! Nolan loves getting messy! My favorite experiment was elephant toothpaste!  This was so fun! After pouring warm water, hydrogen peroxide, Dawn soap, and yeast together it starts to foam out the top.  The boys were so excited as it star...

The Kiddie Park

Image
As the summer winds down we have been checking lots of things off of our summer bucket list.  One of the place we wanted to visit was Memphis Kiddie Park.  At first, I too, thought it was located in Memphis Tennessee but nope, it's right here in Cleveland, OH. This is a mini amusement park just with rides for kids.  We met our friends Mari, Alissa, Max and The Malear's (Matt, Lillian, and Ben) there to join in the fun!  The boys were totally pumped to ride all the rides and even Nolan could too! Hands up! Nolan is being chauffeured around by Lillian Carter is so proud to ride with Nolan Lillan wanted to ride the horse instead of riding in the cart Mari, in the backseat, is so happy to ride in the pink spaceship.  However the stranger she is riding with doesn't look nearly as amused. Nolan was in seventh heaven being able to ride the big rides  Riding the carousel To end the day the boys were begging to putt putt ...

The yearly check-ups

Image
It's that time of year again…yearly check ups for Carter and Landon.  I really look forward to these to see how much they have grown each year!   The nurse began the appointment with chatting with the boys about their age and then she asked Carter if he was headed to Kindergarten.  From that point on he was a chatter box!  He told her all about what we have been doing this summer and that his favorite meal is a meat and cheese sandwich. Then the doctor came in and she got an earful too!  I love his gift of gab…not sure where he gets that from though? His height is 3 feet 8 inches (44 inches) and weighs 40 pounds. Landon was a little timid after the doctor mentioned the boys needed shots.  I was not prepared for this event so I dug to the bottom of my purse where luckily I found 2 Airhead strips.  This saved the day and they willingly got the needed shots.   Landon is 3 feet 3 inches (39 inches) tall and he weighed 35 pounds. ...

A Visit to Michigan

Image
What would summer be without a visit back to Chelsea?  NOT COMPLETE!  So the boys and I loaded up the van and took a road trip.  After the Toldeo Zoo on that Friday we continued up to MI.  We stayed both Friday and Saturday night in Milan but our beloved Betsy, jack russell terrier…AKA crazy dog, ran us out of dodge.  She wanted to sleep on the bed with me and Nolan, lay across my neck, and scratch herself in the middle of the night all which made sleeping rather difficult.  No worries, there was vacancy at Hotel Lokers.  Watching the trains go by! Betsy...super crazy dog! We began our get together with a cookout hosted by the Lokers with all of our favorite families.  It is crazy to me how quickly the kids begin to play with each other and how fast us gals can get a' chat tin' right where we left off.  How fun!  Abby and I take a selfie...it was her first time! On Monday we started the day with a trip to Silver Lake.  This was ...
