Monster Jam

Image
Never in a million years would I think that we would be headed to Monster Truck Jam but we lucked out.  On Saturday we had basketball in the morning and baseball in the afternoon and while we were headed there a parent of a student I had in years past, text me to offer us 6 tickets to the Monster Truck Jam in Cleveland that evening.  Of course, we would love to go.  Aunt Katie came down for the weekend and she was able to join us too.  After baseball we headed out to dinner and then straight to the show. We had great seats and were able to see it all. Aunt Katie is wearing the beaded necklace that Nolan made for her at school. All the trucks came out at the same time and that was our favorite part.  They had a website where the crowd could score the events and Carter and Landon had a blast doing that.  It was pretty loud so we all shoved foam ear plugs in our ears.  It was a super fun time together as a family! Tubing with Trail Life

Image
Trail Life is going so well with the boys and we are excited to collect those moments together with a great group of male role models for our boys.  An even that we were looking forward to was snow tubing at Brandywine slopes.  We had never been before so we had no idea what to expect.  It was a perfect day for being out in the snow. The coolest part was the escalator that carried you and your tube to the top of the hill.  As you can see the temperature was warm because Landon is rocking his short sleeves (no surprise there, right). The boys hanging out with their trail life buddies.  Most of the day Bob and I couldn't keep up with them. Nolan had a blast too.  A silly story from the day: Bob and I were riding up the escalator and I look up and they stopped the belt because someone fell off the tube.  This caused a domino effect of people falling...Nolan was the cause of it.  We pretended we didn't know who he was! No one was hurt just ...

Super Cold Days Equal No School

Image
There are many perks to being a teacher and one of my favorite ones is...snow days.  Recently we lucked out with two back to back super cold temperature days which resulted in two snow days!  I love these unexpected days to just hang out with the boys with no structured routine.  Since the temperatures were so cold we took advantage of trying all the outdoor science experiments we could. Blowing bubbles in temperatures below zero They crystalized and then when we popped them they deflated like a rubber tube. Carter loves to draw and he has been working on understanding perspective and also shading. The boys and I did this experiment with microwaving Ivory bar soap when we lived in Michigan but it has been quite a while so we tried it out again.  They love to watch it expand the longer it stays in the microwave. We even made homemade ice cream in our roller ball in the kitchen.  Wow, did that take longer than we thought and it only made just a t...
