Apple picking

Fall is finally here.  After Landon's fall baseball last weekend we stopped by Quarry Hill Orchard to pick some apples.  Paw Paw came along for the experience! There were so many kinds to sample and taste.   It was a perfect day to pick apples together!

Landon’s ear surgery

Image
Landon has been battling quite a few ear infections this summer.  His pediatrician noticed that one of his tubes was still in there and not in the right spot.  His tubes had been put in when he was about 2 1/2 years old and by this time they should have fallen out.  The remaining tube was causing infectious scar tissue and it was painful.  We met with a pediatric ENT and she scheduled ear surgery for removal. The morning of the scheduled surgery, Bob, Landon and I headed over to Beechwood for the appointment.  He was so brave.  He became a little nervous when they told him he was going to be put to sleep...he was worried he might not wake up.  The surgery took longer than anticipated which made me scared a bit.  When we were allowed to head to the recovery room, it was so sad to see him coming out of the anesthesia.  He was so out of it and dizzy.  They gave him a cute little teddy bear which he named FuzzBall.  The doctor came in ...

Yep, this happened

So the fall is the time when Bob does quite a bit of traveling for work and I get just a little freaked out at night time by myself with the boys.  I never lock the door leading into the garage except I did when Bob was gone along with all the windows and doors.  I got up early and got Carter and Landon dressed and ready for school.  I let Nolan sleep in while I walked the big boys to the bus stop.  When I returned home, it was then I realized I was completely locked out of the house with a 5 year old upstairs asleep, my keys to my car, computer, and phone locked inside.  I thought for sure I could get in but since I locked the house down like Fort Knox I couldn't.  I began ringing the doorbell repeatedly until I pressed so many times that the button shattered.  Next I was beating on the glass sliding door so hard that I thought my hands were going to be full of bruises.  Nolan never sleeps in but that day he decided it was going to be the day he ...

Annual River Raft Trip

Image
Labor Day Weekend is saved for the annual river rafting trip in Hocking Hills at the Lodge! The boys count down the days until we leave for at least a month before.  It's our happy place. Here is the whole crew ready for the river rafting trip! Nature Hikes through the woods is always at the top of the boys list of things to do. Every year our voyage down the river is memorable. The men head down to the river and use weed whackers to clear an entry into the river and they also blow up all the rafts while we try to contain the kids.  Once we leave the river bank the laughter begins! James gets photobombed by the Bull raft! Brian is living the dream...floating down the river solo with an ice cold beverage Many moments are spent out by the fire ring enjoying the company of each other while taking in the beauty that surrounds us Chad coasts down the river on his duck The ride back to the lodge after the raft adventure is always a hoot.  We shove as many...
